TheMightyGringoChannel 0
DEVELOPING STORY For the last two months I have been following and reporting on the dispute between Mediacom cable and Sinclair Broadcasting for ISUtv. Early this morning I received notification that Mediacom, effective midnight January 6th, has pulled the plug on 22 Sinclair-owned stations. The markets affected include the following: Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Peoria-Bloomington, Nashville, Madison, Minneapolis, Birmingham, Milwaukee, Springfield-Champaign-Decatur, Saint Louis, Asheville, Cape Girardeau, and Talahassee. As of right now Mediacom is attempting to replace stations affected, with alternate programming. More to come as information develops. nibbick40 0
No big deal for their Tallahassee station ... Mediacom is mostly in south Georgia and those folks watch WALB from Albany for their NBC programs anyway! kjohnson 17
It shouldn't be that big of a deal for St. Louis, either. Charter serves most of the area, and the areas outside of our DMA should be able to get other ABC stations (or get waivers). It's a bit of a problem for Champaign-Urbana/ Decatur-Springfield though. WICS and WICD are Sinclair stations. There's always DirecTV or Dish Network. jhampsten 0
yeah, although the springfield market really isn't effected too much, most of the cable companies are either Insight, or charter, except in the small towns around central illinois, in some cases losing not only ABC, but their fox affliate from Bloomington-Normal. jbrothers 1
For people in Illinois, its pretty big. KBSI and WDKA are some stations those people watch and they may be mad, but its a break from sincrap crap.
