I love news and the people at Channel 9 are truly like family to me. Nothing makes me happier than a foot of snow, grocery store lines and school cancellations! I’ve started a production company, called appropriately, Phase2Productions, which is taking more and more of my time,” Brattain said. Brattain is co-anchor for WSOC-TV's "Eyewitness News" at 5:30 p.m., and WAXN-TV Action 64's "Action News" at 10 p.m. She previously co-anchored Charlotte's top-rated morning newscast, "Channel 9 Eyewitness News Daybreak", with Cullen Ferguson weekdays from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. She and Ferguson also co-anchored "Channel 9 Eyewitness News Midday", weekdays at noon. In addition, Brattain works as Channel 9's Family Focus reporter. “Words cannot describe what she has brought to this station and to this community, but just a few are ‘passion, incredible work ethic, smarts, talent and always driving for perfection.’ As an anchor, reporter, writer -- every role she has taken on -- she has given 110 percent,” said News Director Robin Whitmeyer. WSOC-TV and WAXN-TV General Manager Joe Pomilla said, “I want to thank Kim for the 18 years of incredible work here, and that’s the second round here. You have a true commitment to the station, the team and the communities we serve. You have been a key player in our success. As you move on to the new opportunities in your life, we wish you much success and happiness.” Brattain's last day will be in August. Personally, I liked Brattain as an anchor and I think she will be missed in the Carolinas. I also wonder who will replace her.
