TrfRptr 3 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 With the passing of Tim Russert and the large amounts of coverage his death has received (and warranted), it got me thinking. Which still living journalist (print/radio/TV) would get simililar coverage when they died, or should get that kind of coverage?
PTVNews 196 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Well, this isn't a national journalist but Mike Donahue from KOIN News 6 is celebrating 40+ years with the station this year. I think KOIN should do some coverage but who knows if KOIN really cares. KOIN fired longtime sports anchor Ed Whelan with no tribute.
5Viewer 1 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Tom Brokaw, Dan Rather, Charles Gibson (and Cronkite as stated above), and Hugh Downs
TrfRptr 3 Posted June 17, 2008 Author Posted June 17, 2008 I was reading some guys blog at the Orlando Sentinal today being slightly critical of NBC/MSNBC overload of coverage this weekend and he made the comment that Peter Jennings didn't get a whole weekend and Monday morning devoted to him. Then again, ABC doesn't have a cable channel either. Those mentioned above, but what about the likes of Barbara Walters, or Mike Wallace? == And echoed above, you don't pay tribute to somebody you fire. That's like begging the old girlfriend to come back. Local news anchors wouldn't get the attention I'm asking about her so while I'm sure your Mike Donahue is great at his craft, I'm pretty sure 299,975,000 don't know who the hell he is.
