sctvhound 27
WMAR (2), the ABC affiliate in Baltimore, is adding and dropping newscasts. They will add a 9am news on September 8, a third hour of Good Morning Maryland, but they will drop their noon newscast. Now, Good Morning Maryland will be three hours, from 5-7 am, and 9-10am. Here is the article from the Baltimore Sun. http://www.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/news/bal-to.people160aug16,0,1943384.story Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/4269-wmar-adds-drops-newscast/ Share on other sites
kjohnson 17
They're probably using the same talent for the noon newscast they are for morning. Why not keep the noon newscast? The ratings aren't that good, at noon, so in their logic, competing with 13's longtime anchor duo, Scott and Bass, is worth it, rather than invest in improving the noon show? I'd put money on competing at noon, or better yet, move it back an hour to 11am. newsie 11
Hmm. Interesting. Regarding their logic of "not performing well, just dump it," that will get you nowhere. sctvhound 27
Well, 11am is when "The View" airs, and it is a network program, meaning that ABC would be mad that a station in a major market would be preempting that show. Guest Former Member 207
Well, 11am is when "The View" airs, and it is a network program, meaning that ABC would be mad that a station in a major market would be preempting that show. It used to be, as recent as a few years ago, that several ABC stations relegated The View to later timeslots, even in the middle of the night. Now, if I'm not mistaken, all the stations air The View in pattern with the network.
