KRON 4 Has launched an 8 o'clock Newscast to replace Dr Phil which is now going to be in the 5pm time slot. I personaly find this interesting because now the bay area has continuous news from 4 till 12, albeit different channels.

Website's pressrelease is alittle overboard on the use of "Exciting"

There are some exciting new programming changes we want you to know about. KRON 4 is adding a new newscast and Dr. Phil is moving.

Starting today, Tuesday, September 2, KRON 4 brings you a full hour of news at 8:00pm. KRON 4 News at 8:00pm is the first and only local newscast at 8:00pm, giving you more details on the days top stories at a time more convenient for you.

Dr. Phil can now be seen at 5:00pm as he continues to 'get real' with guests helping them create positive changes improving their lives.

In addition KRON 4 is expanding its 4:00pm newscast to one full hour. With these changes KRON 4 now brings you 9 1/2 hours of local news per day Monday through Friday, far more than any other Bay Area television station.

Here is the new line-up:

4:00pm - KRON 4 News

5:00pm - Dr. Phil

6:00pm - KRON 4 News

7:00pm - The Insider

7:30pm - Entertainment Tonight

8:00pm - KRON 4 News

KRON is still the "exciting" piece of crap it's been since it was sold- you can guarantee that I'd never watch it...

More news than any other station in the west and possibly the country...geez what became of KR-excuse me-KRAP after the De Young's.

I figured at some point KPIX would get Dr. Phil away from KRON as well as Entertainment Tonight since both shows air on CBS O&Os.

Dr. Phil is still on KRON. They expanded the 4:00pm "newscast" to an hour, canned the 5:00pm news for Dr. Phil, and kept the 6:00pm newscast. Insider/ET are also still on KRON.

I don't know how KRON affords to produce all these local newscasts considering they continue to be at the bottom of the ratings. They are hardly considered the news leader or the source people in the Bay Area turn to for local news. I would have thought newscasts would be being cancelled on this station, not added.
