KPDX starts 8 PM newscast tonight

KPDX, Portland's MyNetworkTV affiliate, will start an 8 PM newscast tonight produced by its sister station KPTV (FOX 12). MyNetworkTV programming will now run one hour later, from 9 PM-11 PM.

 

This will be the first newscast that KPDX has had since the two stations had an affiliation swap, and became a duopoly 6 years ago.

 

Interestingly, KPDX has never used the "My49" branding; it recently called itself PDX49, and the site now refers to the station as PDX TV.

 

On a related note, KPTV will now air an hour-long 5 PM newscast starting tonight. KPTV will now be airing 8 hours of news every day (4:30-9 AM, 4 PM-6 PM, and 10 PM-11:30 PM)!

Who's anchoring the new 5pm and 8pm shows?

 

And also, do the new newscasts mean an end to Kimberly Maus' split schedule or will she continue to contribute to "Better" and anchor 7:00am-9:00am and 4:00-5:00pm?

Here is what I have heard:

 

4-5 Wayne and Kim and Mark

5-6 Shauna and Kim and Mark

8-9 Wayne and Shauna w/ Drew weather

10 Wayne and Shauna w/ Mark

11 Kevin Coari solos (don't know if it's Mark or Drew)

 

KGW is also starting a 7pm show tonight but it isn't a traditional newscast. It is centered around politics.

Better started around 3 years or so ago at KPTV as "More". It has since lost it local flare and is a boring show.
