Guest Broken News Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 "Canada Now" will be history in February 2007. It's replacement...more local news. CBC will be restoring hour long 6pm newscasts, using it's Vancouver operation as a model. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2006/11/30/cbc-media.html
johnnya2k6 171 Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 And speaking of CBC News... Larry Henderson, the first anchor of CBC's "The National News" (which would later become "The National", of course) from 1954-59, died last week peacefully at 89. Jonathan Allen
Andy B 0 Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Interesting, it's about time really. I was watching a news report a while back that CBC wanted to do more local programming but were restricted due to funding.
ED1 0 Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Hope CBC looks at doing late night and weekend newscasts again.
ED1 0 Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 An update to this thread... CBC Vancouver has launched a local half hour newscast at 12:00pm, followed by CBC News Today at 12:30. CBC will be going up against the only other Vancouver-based noon news cast in the region - the Noon News Hour on Global BC. VTV (now CTV 9) used to have a noon newscast, and CHEK/CH Victoria recently cancelled their noon newscast.
