It's taken forever, but Sinclair Broadcast Group has finally reached agreement nationally with Time Warner Cable so the high-definition programming airing on Sinclair stations will be carried by the cable company.

That means ultra-sharp versions of Channel 18's CW Network shows, like "Gilmore Girls" and "Smallville," and Channel 24's MyNetwork soaps will soon show up for subscribers to Time Warner's high-definition service in southeastern Wisconsin.

Bev Greenberg, vice president of community and government relations for Time Warner's southeast Wisconsin operation, says the high-def versions of Channels 18 and 24 will be up and running "as soon as possible."

But she can't get offer anything more definite than that.

Since word just came down from the corporate level at the beginning of the week, the local Time Warner folks have yet to sit down with the Milwaukee managers of Channels 18 and 24 to get things moving.

The agreement between Sinclair and Time Warner runs through Dec. 31, 2009, and affects 35 TV stations in 22 markets around the country, according to Sinclair.

Lucky you. If that includes Hampton Roads, we'll be treated to glorious HD presentations of junk like "Wicked Wicked Games" (the station in question here is MNTV affiliate WTVZ).

Um... I don't think we have any Time Warner cable systems here.

Too bad both Sinclair & Belo can't agree to do what is right for their viewers. Corporate greed and arrogance should be a violation of the license they have to use the public airwaves. Keep boycatting KMOV 4 until the HD signal returns to Charter. Tell everyone, the only way they will hear is to hurt them financially.

I think a lot of st. louis would do that, BUT they know how bad Charcrap is, so they set up OTA systems, and it's superbowl week, which just happens to be on KMOV channel 4. so don't expect to see a lot of boycotts of KMOV in STL.
