TheMightyGringoChannel 0
Looks like WFLD is going to be giving the other stations in Chicago a run for their money later this year. Last week officials in the west-suburban city of Lockport, gave clearance to WFLD-TV to install a new multimillion dollar Doppler radar system on top of the city's water tower. According to the Daily Southtown, "The new radar system will allow Fox to provide updates on storms far more quickly than with existing Chicago-area radar." Fox tells the Daily Southtown, "the new system can sweep up to six times a minute during severe weather." This new system is very similar to WFLD's Houston-based sister-station, KRIV's FOXRAD Storm-Seeker Radar. Once it is installed and online, this new radar will be the most powerful in the Chicago market, and give WFLD a definite advantage over it's competitors. kjohnson 17
Just as as long as they don't give it a stupid name. :-\ FOXRAD is fine. "Super Live Doppler 32000" or "FOX Super Doppler 32 Million" is a tad excessive.
