WINSTON-SALEM -- Former WXII anchor Tolly Carr walked out of a Guilford County prison facility Monday morning after serving a sentence in a 2007 drunken-driving death.

A North Carolina State Department of Corrections official said Carr left the facility with his probation officer.

Carr pleaded guilty to driving through a construction zone in March 11 2007, running off the road and hitting and killing 26-year-old Casey Bokhoven.

I was living down there when it happened. He actually came to my best friend's church to apologize to the community. It was quite sad though, he was one of the more popular anchors in the Triad.
