PTVNews 196 Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Does anyone know what that plastic material is that the blue light shines though is called? Also, what about the "metal" strips that create the boxes? Thanks. Image 1 Image 2
Weeters 1969 Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 [st]That would likely be frosted Arcrylic glass.[/st] And the metal is probably just aluminum or polished steel. EDIT: Err, on closer inspection, that looks to be a plastic sheet.
PTVNews 196 Posted May 22, 2009 Author Posted May 22, 2009 EDIT: Err, on closer inspection, that looks to be a plastic sheet. Yeah, ok. But is there a certain name for it or anything? Or do you know where to buy it? Someplace like Lowe's? Thanks!
Weeters 1969 Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Yeah, ok. But is there a certain name for it or anything? Or do you know where to buy it? Someplace like Lowe's? Thanks! I checked around Google and found this, but it's pretty thin. Maybe you could email someone like FX Group, KPTV (that's a local set, right?), or one of the set fabrication companies and ask them what it is exactly and where it can be acquired.
PTVNews 196 Posted May 23, 2009 Author Posted May 23, 2009 Yeah. I've tried searching Google. I guess I'll try and email. It is a local set.
jestbiteme 13 Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Yeah. I've tried searching Google. I guess I'll try and email. It is a local set. You could probably achieve that look with a properly size sheet of Lexan and an opaque acrylic finish.
Weeters 1969 Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 The website I linked to also sells Acrylic sheets with P95 coating, which FX Group uses in it's sets.
goo 0 Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Check out what KHIZ did in SoCal. They built an entire set from stuff just from Ikea.
FirstNews8 13 Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Thats pretty cool... Ive always wondered how FX and others build those nice desks and such, looks complicated.
