NewsJunkie247 1 Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 I've noticed at the end of CBS 2 News at Noon for the past few days, Kate Sullivan has said "We'll see you tomorrow morning at 4:55" even though they come on with a tease at that time and the actual newscast itself doesn't start until 5AM. They are all laughing and smiling when she says this, so you can probably guess they are mocking Fox 5 because Good Day New York now starts at 4:55 AM instead of 5AM. Fox 5 even mentions the new time in their promos. I thought it was pretty funny!

Sounds more like they are mocking their own CBS station brass who are forcing them to say "see you at 4:55" thinking that normal people actually care that they will be one five minutes before 5am.

Yes, I'm aware that they come on at 4:55 with John Elliot and Katie McGee doing a tease of weather and traffic, then the anchors tease the days top stories. The actual broadcast itself doesn't start until about 5AM. Even though they have been starting at 4:55 for a long time, they just started mentioning that as the new start time at the end of the news at noon (even though the promos still say 5 - 7AM) and when they did, the anchors were chuckling and smiling, so I thought maybe they were making fun of Fox 5. Perhaps CBS 2 now wants viewers to start watching at 4:55 so they get an idea of what stories will be on. As for WNBC and WABC, I believe that they come on at 4:59 or 5:00 AM.
Harry Houdini 0 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I think it's nothing. Then again, it wouldn't be the first time the CBS was envious of Good Day NY. Maybe CBS may want make sure the annorexic(SP) gal they have on in the AM eats something more than rents it.
NewsJunkie247 1 Posted June 14, 2009 Author Posted June 14, 2009 This reminds me of the promo from CBS 2 that aired right around the time WNBC stopped using the "Live at Five" name and cut their news to 30 minutes and during the promo, it mentions at the end "CBS 2: Live at Five".
