Jennifer Antkowiak returning to KDKA.....

That's great news! I always liked her when she was on the 5PM news with Ken Rice. Now, I wonder who will stay on the morning news with her, Stephanie Watson or David Highfield? Stephanie filled the void when Keith Jones left a few months ago and David has filled Sonni Abatta's former spot for the last month or so. I don't think anybody has been officially named co-anchor of the morning news, so it could be either. I think she will probably take David Highfield's spot because he has been on the least.

Also, I'm thinking we might see Jennifer Antkowiak and Kristine Sorensen swap anchor positions in the near future and a return to the team of Jen and Ken Rice at 5PM. Ken and Jennifer were such a great team for a long time and Kristine hosts Pittsburgh Today Live at 9 am anyway. Just a thought.

I doubt that would happen. I don't like Kristine's performance, but there are two factors to consider: one, KDKA's morning news, despite recent gains, is still lagging behind the competition. Bringing a big name anchor like Jen to the game might just change that. Similarly, the newscasts Kristine does anchor (is it just the 5PM?) is a pretty strong contender as is without any anchor swaps.

Factor Number Two is that Jennifer's kids played a lot into her decision to leave KDKA. I don't see her giving up evening with her family, although getting up at 2:30 or 3AM probably won't lend to much quality time. Maybe Joe gets the kids out the door in the morning? I digress.

I'm very pleased that Jen's made the return to KDKA. I am sure that there were a number of media outlets in the area that would have killed to get her to sign with them, and she's back with KDKA. Either they really ponied up the money or she has class. (Probably both- I always had a little crush on Jen.)

Wonder what this means for Jennifer, the TV show, and Jennifer the Magazine, respectively? I don't know how popular either were, but I can't her ethically moving forward (take a drink, JV!) with them.

One other aside, and I know my posts are usually about as big of a trainwreck as the economy, this could be a step towards the Patrice King Brown Succession Plan. We know Jen was the logical replacement for PKB when she was still anchoring the 5... and now that Patrice has been at TV2 for over 30 years... you never know. I just can't see Kristine as a 6/11PM anchor, ever. She seems like a nice girl, but she's just unpolished.

I agree completely. I think the only reason why Kristine has filled in for Patrice King Brown a lot in the past (and coincidently tonight) is because it has been the most convienant and logical move because she works evenings as well, but in the long run, I think KD is going to want to go with a better choice. However, I don't think Patrice is going to retire any time soon. She is only about 53 or 54 and the station is probably going to keep her around for a few more years.
