WCNC broadcasting from temp set

I usually don't watch WCNC here in Charlotte, but while watching their 4pm newscast I noticed they were broadcasting from a temporary set. Pretty sure they are building a new HD ready set since they are the only station out of the big 4 not in HD (they are in 16:9 widescreen though). Belo seems not to have poured too much $$ as much as they do with their other ones but we'll see.

Finally! There set is odd looking especially withe the HUGE WCNC logo. Even without HD it will still look good! With HD even better.

If they make the switch, it will probably be on March 1 (after the Olympics). Promos should be running soon if that's the case.

They're now in their newsroom. Pretty sure it's temporary because they aren't showing a wide shot of the set. Maybe they are installing the new set now--we will see...

They were back at the regular temp set yesterday and today. They were covering the storms that were in the area on Sunday so they were probably in the newsroom for that purpose only.

Noticed a few subtle differences. Other than a open window with a view of the newsroom, just blue-shaded walls on either side. If that's a permanent set then Belo really went cheap with WCNC.

I'll post photos/video when I get it.

A few pics. BTW the desk has a flat screen attached to it but they only show the whole desk (or at least part of it) it during wide shots.

According to a buddy of mine who works there...

New set should debut in a couple of weeks. They're building a new weather patio that includes a waterfall and a koi pond. I'm jealous!

Today I noticed that the panels on both sides of the NBC logo were gone, and it was overlooking what appeared to be the new outdoor set.
