WDJT prepping for HD?

[st]Was watching the Morning News Express this morning. They were having some technical issues during the 6:30 weather segment and had to do weather from the desk without the chroma wall. Chris McGinness said something along the lines of "Sorry for the issues, but we're making preperations for our HD upgrade this morning."

Their bug is already in HD, and their field cameras are all HD-capable P2 cameras. They also produced a program a few years ago in HD (the first locally produced HD program by a commercial station without the help of another station) I wonder if we'll see HD for May sweeps?[/st]

HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY!

I wonder if they'll go with the CBS Milwaukee branding that was rumored a few years back. Boring logo but interesting idea. I never liked the "58." Although "CBS Atlanta" hasn't done anything for WGCL the umpteen million times they've tried that.

Weeters, any hints or anything on the later newscasts?

I just love the photo of the cell phone on their contact us page (http://www.cbs58.com/pages/contactus/).. That cell phone has to be from 1993? 1995 maybe?..

As CircleSeven would say in the "WGN Now Using New Graphics" thread last year: "A cell phone is a cell phone, even if the image is old, it's still a cell phone and that image should stay."

I was thinking about that message as I typed my message.. All I have to say to that is f*ck that! If a station can go HD, upgrade equipment, upload online videos, do everything to be update as possible on news, etc. then why the hell can't they put up an image of a recent cell phone? It doesn't have to be an I-Phone or anything of that sort.. Just something from the past 5 years. Those old phones that are in that photo won't even work anymore nowadays. One of my old phones just like that one is sitting in a box in my closet. Maybe I should contact their webmaster and tell him to put up a photo of an old Motorola brick from the late 1980's.

The more that I look at that image, did they just steal that from some website out there or do they actually have some old clip art/image CD's from the mid-'90s laying around that station? It looks like one of generic images that were popular to use on websites and advertisements in the mid-late '90s..

That graphic has probably just been recycled during website upgrades. Up until just a few years ago, their 404 page still used the pre-Sept. 2001 logo.
