Channel 7 Eyewitness News 0
I have a television production class at school where we produce a newscast every week. Is it a violation of copyright to use News Series 2000? The work is posted on the web every week, so this work is published. Is it still copyright infringement? lazynetjunkie 34
The legal answer is YES. Even if your work wasn't posted online and was only broadcast within your school, you would still need the permission/rights from Gari. I suggest you contact Gari. Chances are, if you're just a high school, they'll say just yes or maybe just have you pay an extremely small fee. However, I kind of doubt they'd let you use News Series 2000. Plus, they may ask how you obtained that package if you mention to them that you have it.
