...the anchors have to do the weather...this is kind of funny from WRGB/CBS6 Albany....

Normally when this sort of thing happens around here (Chicago), one of the anchors would usually usually get up from the desk, walk up and stand next to the meteorologist, unclip and hold his/her mic in front of the meteorologist. Same goes for a reporter doing a report from the studio and his/her mic dies. However, a couple of the stations in Chicago now just keep a wireless handheld mic ready to use in the studio just incase a meteorologist's or reporter's clip-on dies.

Many stations have hard-wired lapel mics right next to the chroma wall for situations like that...it's better then nothing, plus there's no chance of having 2 sets of dead batteries.
