Spring Rubber 715 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Even though they're obviously not doing a whole newscast in the format, they ran a segment that borrows from the concept. It's called "Pictures of the Day," and it basically recaps the top stories using raw pictures and soundbites from each of the top stories. Today, the segment ran for about 45 seconds-1 minute at the end of the news after the sports. I guess Tribune wanted to squeeze their new idea into a segment here in Chicago?

A good chunk of the new Tribune "concept/format" is actually being put together here in Chicago eventhough it's not really going to be implemented here.
Spring Rubber 715 Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Shows how often I watch a full newscast of theirs. I wonder if any of Tribune's other "edgy" ideas will creep into WGN over time.
ProButtonPusher 230 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 "Pictures of the Day" sounds like it's just a NAT Sound PKG...
WGN9fan 0 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 No surprise here, WPIX does this, too. There it is dubbed "The Day In PIX".
