newsteam13 400 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Interesting thing about the KCNC 1995-1997 News theme (Image X by Jerome Gilmer) Gilmer took the four-note "This is CBS" ID from 1992 (or as it says CBS: It's All Here) ...tied it with the classic KCNC "This is Colorado" anthem, and made the theme one awesome commemoration of the switch from NBC to CBS. This was a way for KCNC to shout out THIS IS CBS ON NEWS 4!!!!!!!!
C Block 1566 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 While it was a good theme at the time, I always thought it was trying to rip off the NBC G-E-C chime in the signature...
Jess 1116 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Not surprising. Especially in 1995, a lot of stations, particularly those involved in that big switch, would slowly shift away from their soon-to-be-dropped affiliation and towards the new one. 10 eliminated the CBS eye from its newscasts. WTVJ stopped using the 4 and started using its calls.

Although somewhat related to the big switch of 1995 and different from the whole Fox/New World deal that started the blitz during the same period, even WPTY dropped all references to its Fox affiliation (rebranding itself as "Memphis 24" prior to its switch to ABC) when News Corp bought WHBQ.
