Nash C. Roberts, whose accurate hurricaine forecasts for New Orleans were as legendary as his stubborn use of magnetic greaseboards and felt tip markers even into the age of digital weather graphics, and worked for WDSU, WVUE and WWL Radio and Television over a half-century, has died at 92.

Nash was an icon on the air, and even more importantly, a true gentleman in person. I grew up watching him, wanting to be just like him, ended up working with him in the 1990s at WWL. Such an amazing person.

I am sure he was ridiculed by many other meteorologists, including those in New Orleans, but they don't have the track record like he does when it came to forecasting. I can remember his call on Hurricane Georges like it was yesterday.

What a guy. R.I.P. Mr. Roberts.

Me too! I was working double duty during Georges. Non stop coverage on the old Mix 104.1 -- and co-producing the "Eyewitness Morning News". I remember Dan Milham and Margaret Orr freaking everyone out saying it was going to be like what Katrina eventually was... and Nash saying the storm was going to jog to the NE. Of course, he was right!
