CSNewsGuy 1
I'll update this thread as needed. Those who care can check it out when new content is added, those who don't won't have to deal with a forum cluttered with threads about stations they don't care about. CBS affiliate KKTV channel 11 has been getting some attention the past 2 weeks for flipping the switch on a new digital transmitter, and tweaking it's look. The station has had trouble with it's signal since day 1 of the digital switch. Moving from VHF channel 10 to UHF channel 49 is supposed to correct that. They also tweaked the lighting on their set, and modified their graphics package slightly. Purportedly another step toward full HD. Actually, I'm told they're there, but I don't know that for a fact. ABC affiliate KRDO channel 13 has a new weekend sports anchor. Josh Williamson, formerly of WISC-TV in Madison. CSNewsGuy 1
More about my avatar, just for fun. An old KRDO microwave live van, no longer in service on a regular basis. In fact, it's been parked for better than 10 years now. I can remember seeing it out and about when I was a kid though. It still gets called into service for special events now and then, but it no longer has live capabilities. "Live Action Cam" makes me chuckle. I remember seeing that since I was a little kid as well. And. this was the first go-round of Channel 13 sporting the ABC circle logo. I miss seeing it out and about as well. Good times! CSNewsGuy 1
That's true, but I'm not sure to what extent. At any rate, the person who told me that is extremely reliable, so I'm inclined to believe it. CSNewsGuy 1
I'm hearing that KKTV has switched to a Parkervision type production system for their newscasts, and that's why they've had so many spectacular fails the past 2 weeks. I'm sure they'll get the bugs worked out eventually. I'm sure there's plenty of pressure to get it figured out before sweeps start. CSNewsGuy 1
ABC affiliate KRDO channel 13 moved into a new newsroom in October of 2009. This is the old newsroom. The computers are gone because I took this picture right in the middle of the move. The old newsroom was located downstairs at the back of the building. This is the new newsroom. It wasn't quite finished yet. You can see a monitor missing from the wall. The new newsroom is located upstairs on the south side of the building, and overlooks the studio. CSNewsGuy 1
KOAA should be re-branding today. They've already switched their name and logo on Twitter, and their name on Facebook. The rumor is they're dropping "News First 5" and switching to "KOAA News 5." I just saw a new bump pushing people to their facebook page, which included a cut from Stephen Arnold's "Locals Only" package. Currently they use "The Rock." A quick google search turns up examples of their new logo. It's worth noting that the logo is red on most of the smart phone apps, but on Twitter, it's blue. New logo (red version.) The guy who used to manage KSBY just took over as GM at KOAA, so it's not surprising to see some changes.
