Bill Monroe, the former New Orleans States-Item newspaperman who helped kicked off television news in New Orleans as the city's first TV news director (WDSU) and later served as producer and moderator of NBC's "Meet The Press", died this morning at a Washington, D.C.-area nursing home. He was 90.
