NBC O&Os Get New President

From Deadline. Basically, KGO's GM takes over the division and oversees the O&Os, while the old president is bumped over to, essentially, NBCU's IT and real estate department. Here's the full report:

Harbert has tapped Valari Dobson Staab, president and GM of the ABC O&O station in San Fransisco, as new head of NBC's station group. As president of NBC Local Media, Staab will oversee NBC’s 10 owned-and-operated television stations, its local online properties, and digital out-of-home division. Staab, who will start in June, replaces John Wallace, who has served as president of NBC Local Media since 2007. NBC's O&O group is playing a major part in NBCU's efforts to woo Katie Couric for a daytime syndicated talk show.

Wallace, in turn, has been named president, NBCUniversal Media Works, reporting to Fili-Krushel. He will oversee the company’s technology and studio operations, including IT, digital projects and services, sourcing, environmental health and safety, and crisis management as well as NBCU’s real estate properties, including Rockefeller Center in New York and Universal City in California. Wallace replaces John Eck, who will be leaving NBCU.

My take: Since they're bringing in an outsider, from ABC no less (the one station group I'd describe as local over all the rest), I'd expect major, perhaps fundamental changes to the way the group is organized and run. It's also entirely possible this might derail the new branding rollout even further.

My guess is that the new look/branding rolls out, but it wont last a year before they decide to go back to the NBC [number] branding. That or they could wait till September to launch an entirely new gfx package.

I would hope they wouldn't leave their branding in shambles until September, but the way it's been going, who knows.

They better make a decision sooner than later especially here in LA. The graphics still say "The Channel 4 News", anchors are calling the news cast" NBC LA", reporter are signing off their reports "NBC 4 LA", & news vans have "NBC LOS ANGELES" painted on them.
