HOUSTON -- Radar the Weather Dog is about to take on an exciting new role.

After more than three years of working here at KPRC Local 2, Radar will become the pet of a Local 2 employee who has cared for him throughout his time at the television station.

Radar will also spend time each week at the Weather Museum, located at 5104 Caroline, meeting his many weather fans here in Houston, and encouraging people to learn more about the weather.

While he will no longer appear daily in our newscasts, Radar will continue to represent KPRC Local 2 and the Weather Museum at many festivals, fairs and school events.

And, of course, when Radar appears, our cameras will be there with him.

A weather dog? :o

KPRC isn't the only station with a weather dog... KYTX and WITN have them too.

And that fact is supposed to validate the existence of a weather dog?

::)

:p

KPRC was the first to have the weather dog. Radar came in around 2003. I dont know the story behind WITN but "Stormy" up at KYTX was actually brought along by the Vice President of the Station. KPRC adopted Radar at a telethon in 2003 and took him to doggie school and all of that. It was Dominiques Idea. Thats about all I have.
