cbs2news 0
If I were CBS 2's News Director, These would be my anchor teams consisting of the exsisting anchors CBS 2 News This Morning Maurice Dubois Mary Calvi Jeff Beradelli-Weather Sam Ryan-Sports CBS 2 News at Noon and 5 Reid Lamberty Cindy Hsu Jeff Beradelli-Weather Ducis Rodgers-Sports (only on at 5 PM) CBS 2 News at 6 and 11 Dana Tyler Jim Rosenfield John Bolaris-Weather Ducis Rodgers-Sports CBS 2 News Weekend Morning Kirsten Cole Brendan Keefe Liz Carothers-Weather CBS 2 News Weekend Evening Chris Wragge Kate Sullivan John Elliott-Weather Kevin Connors-Sports Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/757-my-cbs-2-anchor-teams/ Share on other sites
NYNews 54
I would have this: CBS2 This Morning & Noon: Cindy Hsu and Brendan Keefe CBS2 News at 5pm: Chris Wragge and Mary Calvi CBS2 News at 6pm and 11pm: Dana Tyler and Jim Rosenfield Weekend Mornings: Reid Lamberty and Kirsten Cole Weekend Evenings: Lou Young and Tamsen Fadal or Hazel Sanchez I think the only smart anchor who left before he got fired is Ernie. Too bad, wasn't there a rise in ratings when he and Roz anchored together? I didn't watch then so i'm not sure, but i also heard that there was competition among the two fighting for rights to be the "alpha" anchor, and that it was noticeable on air, is this true? qwertywcbs 0
I disagree with all of you on your teams in some place. Reid was good, not read for the weekday spot yet. He needs to be prepped like David Ushery was. Brendan Keefe is a MUCH stronger reporter than anchor, and his banter, especially for a morning program, is lacking. I dislike Mary now. I had liked her very much with Roz, but now on weekends, she is talking faster than ever. This Sunday was particularly brutal, and she had a full 30 minute 6:30 broadcast. So here is what I think WCBS should do... and these teams are shocking even me as I write them. Mornings: Cindy Hsu (with glasses, no contacts) Chris Wragge Jeff Beradelli's weather. new sports talent Addrienne Watson's traffic. Noon: Cindy Hsu (solo) -or- with Kate Sullivan Jeff weather 5pm: (Unreasonable): Kate Sullivan & Roz Abrams (Reasonable): Kate Sullivan & Maurice DuBois John Bolaris weather Ducis Rodgers sports 6pm: (Unreasonable): Dana Tyler and Stephen Clark (Reasonable): Dana Tyler and Jim Rosenfield John Bolaris weather Ducis Rodgers sports 11pm: same as 6pm weekend mornings: Kirstin Cole Magee Hickey Ibby (yes, Ibby) Carothers weather Kevin Connors sports weekend evenings: Mary Calvi Reid Lamberty (new weather talent) Sam Ryan sports Sports Sunday with Ducis Rogers Bring back Sunday Edition/Kirtzman & Co. ---or--- bring back Kirtzman & Kramer. yes, Kate Sullivan has impressed me beyond belief. She was GREAT hire. (god I never thought that would come out of my mouth). Chris Wragge is a very strong anchor, but put him in mornings where things are more fun, which is what he can do better than a breaking story. NYNews 54
I chose Wragge over Lou for the weekday spot because 1) Wragge is getting better. 2) Lou doesn't attract the younger viewers that WCBS is apprently trying to get and actually achieving that goal with a younger team. They know all the 40-50yrs old females who watch Oprah are already tune to WABC, and the team of Roz and Mary wasn't going anywhere if Oprah is the lead in for WABC. So i guess that does kind of defend WCBS' decision for a younger team at 5pm, but that does not defend the fact that they hired an anchor who constantly messess up her words. I would not have minded so much about the replacement of Roz if Johnson was as well spoken like Roz was, but unfortunately she's not. canitgetanyworse 0
I'd have to say the best weather team they had there was Frank Field/Storm Field splitting the evenings and nights. Craig Allen did mornings with Jay Trelease doing traffic. I don't remember who did weekend weather though, during that time of the early to mid 90's. I think more recently, the smartest weather team in NYC was at 2 as well, with John Bolaris, Jeff Berardelli, Craig Allen and Audrey Puente. But as usual, they broke up a good thing; only John remains- the rest are very weak. And there's no denying the sharpest/smartest weather people on TV now are Nick Gregory and Lee Goldberg. TVNewsWatcher 6
I hope WCBS ends up keeping John Bolaris, he is their strongest Meterologist there...Obiviously the Lonnie Quinn thing didn't work out because they moved him to the noon and 5pm show.
