FJ2000 5 Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 The Daily News reported that due to budget cuts, Gail Shister has been reassigned to the pop culture beat. She definately was great. What a shame. Now, this explains why subsciptions continue to dwindle for the Inquirer.
WCAUTVNBC10 413 Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 And people wonder why I read the Metro over the PNI snot rags
nigelbruce 0 Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 What did she ever write that had insight or surprised you about our local television? Yes, after each sweeps she would do a fairly accurate wrap. (The lead almost each time: Channel Six won again) But otherwise absolutely nothing in two decades plus. If you want actual reporting about Philadelphia television, the truth is that it is strictly Stu Bykovsky-Dan Gross who break information, offer some fresh insights, and don't just type up the management line and put it in the paper.
instacam70 0 Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Gail's a legend. It's a shame that her column was cut. I will miss it.

AGREED. She was much better back in the 1990s, but the fact is that her column shifted from being a great resource on local television to really boring stuff almost exclusively about network news (really - does anybody care about CNN in Philly?). I think the reassignment will help her in the long run, I think.
