ABC11EyewitnessNews 0
From DCRTV.com and the AP: AP reports that four people suffered minor injuries when a TV news helicopter crash-landed in a field late Friday afternoon near Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The chopper crashed just after 4 PM. Two of the occupants were taken to a local hospital for evaluation. The other two occupants refused medical treatment. The Bell 206B helicopter- which is a news chopper for Channel 12/WWBT in Richmond - is registered to HeloAir of Sandston, Virginia. It appears the chopper hit power lines before crashing. No word on why the Richmond TV station's copter was at that location. The investigation continues. ChoprHopr 0
Strange story??? Anyone know why the helicopter was two states and almost 150 miles away from it's home base picking up construction workers at a subdivision? I understand that in this case the station does not own the chopper but usually there are special terms in a contract on what the company can and can't use the chopper for when not actually flying for the station. What, no news on a friday afternoon in Richmond? Wouldn't happen at my station that's for sure. Very strange!
