I'm sure I speak for bixpchiphead, as well, when I say":'(." http://kdka.com/topstories/local_story_098201546.html (KDKA) PITTSBURGH A man remembered as the voice of KDKA-TV for more than 30 years has died. George Eisenhauer was KDKA-TV's former chief booth announcer. He died Saturday at the age of 84 at his home, in Maine. Eisenhauer, a native of Carrick, announced the station's call letters, commercials, and hosted programming for WDTV -- the predecessor of KDKA-TV, which was owned by Dumont Broadcasting when it went on the air. He remained with the station when it was purchased by Westinghouse broadcasting in the mid-1950s. Eisenhauer, who also had an operatic singing voice, performed at the Pittsburgh Playhouse and in summer stock including acting roles at the White Barn Theatre and the Odd Chair Playhouse. He hosted religious programming at KDKA-TV for the broadcasts "We Believe" and "Not Just Sunday". Eisenhauer left the KDKA-TV in the early 1980s and lived in Europe and Maine prior to his death. He is survived by his wife, five daughters, and a son. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

jestbiteme 13 Posted April 10, 2007 Author Posted April 10, 2007 Well, I guess this would have been one of the very last things he did for KDKA, despite retirement. "A true professional who never shirked work," indeed. George, here's 2 Pittsburgh... and here's to you. [yt=425,350]VONUfkUuIcU[/yt]
