So as stupid as it sounds, it's correct to assume they are willing to spend money...to lose money. Tinker with shit...and play around with free social media content while you figure out you have lost an entire generation of viewers to Facebook....that took you 30 years to cultivate. For the record, allegedly Access Hollywood came across the video footage at some point in the recent past, and "planned" on reporting on it. It was also said that the News division (MSNBC IIRC) got prior knowledge of the tape from the Entertainment division, and that the reporting was supposed to be a one-two from Access Hollywood reporting first and then NBC News doing the followup on the story. However, as we all know, somewhere between that point of planning and Saturday last, it got leaked to WaPo. Once the Post got it, they reached out to NBCU for comment, who then had to ACTUALLY scramble to cobble together the report they were "planning" to do. Someone in the NBCU universe wanted Billy Bush gone. The question is, was it the Entertainment division or the News division...

I recall TEGNA had a similar meeting with morning show managers last year. I don't think anything came of it. If you're a top-rated TEGNA station making money, I'm not sure why you would want to fix what isn't broken.
