  1. It was inevitable, another one of WGN’s old guard is calling it quits… and this time it’s the king of Chicago weather. Tom Skilling has announced that he will retire as WGN’s chief meteorologist next year, after 45 years with the station. His last day will be February 28, 2024.

  2. NBC RSNs aren't getting a package overhaul until next year. You're seeing small tweaks tied to NBC's (unfortunate) peacock mods.

  3. No...several generations of AMERICANS have grown up with Tom Skilling. Thanks to WGN being on satellite and cable for decades. Best wishes on Tom's retirement. He is one of the best meteorologists in the business, and WGN won't be the same without him!

  4. Not a failure. Ratings are improving. Still last place unfortunately but improving. The issue is the evenings and not the mornings. Looks like they are going to improve the Evenings. Jeff was a huge reason why the evenings overall was struggling. He was not only not connecting to Detroit viewers, he again, was not easy to get along with. Shaina, Ahmad, and Ronnie have all began to connect with Detroit viewers. Jeff never did for obvious reasons. This probably played a huge factor in his firing. Amyre has stated she doesn’t want to with behind the anchor desk. This is why her main role is behind the scenes. She’s only in the anchor desk when she has to fill in.

  5. No, Tom isn’t the king of Chicago weather… he is the God of Chicago weather and the God of local TV weather.
