  1. Just a few blocks apart. Old location is conveniently near the OB/GYN on top. Current location is at the bottom. Sounds like the plan is to house the combined WUSA/WDCW operation in the current WUSA studios.
  2. This is his second attempt to jump from TV to Congress. Back when he was an anchor in Fort Wayne, he ran for an open seat from Indiana in 2010, but placed 3rd in the Republican caucus. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Indiana's_3rd_congressional_district_special_election
  3. Russom is painful to watch on the desk.
  4. It's the advantage of not being the self-proclaimed "Boston's News Leader." There's nothing to lose by doing something different. Plus a show like that can live on Youtube or streaming and you get the chance for some social engagement. Smart move. Seems like WCVB has just settled into rehashing their 6pm show at 7pm, which is a shame because it seemed like they originally were planning more long-form interviews (Maria Stephanos' forte) in that timeslot originally.
  5. Trying to keep a running tally of people falling victim to Skydance's axe today -- the first in two rounds, apparently. Here's what I've heard so far: WJZ: Morning anchor Sina Gebre-Ab Chief met Derek Beasley KDKA: Features reporter Katie O'Malley "Talk Pittsburgh" host Kelly Dzanaj Executive producer and community affairs host Lisa Smith
  6. ABC News reporter Phil Lipof is leaving to become 4 & 5pm anchor at KUSA in Denver, which seems like an interesting move considering it’ll likely end up part of some unholy Nexstar KDVR/KWGN consolidation within a year.
  7. While that’s still true in theory, the NFL has loosened its scheduling in recent years and now, it’s not uncommon to see an NFC vs NFC matchup on CBS or an AFC divisional battle on Fox.
  8. Don’t be that surprised. WTTG in DC cut theirs years ago, even as the Nationals won the World Series and the Caps won the Stanley Cup. Now, they have a sports reporter who does a handful of sports feature stories a week and then beef up coverage when Washington plays on Fox, esp in the playoffs. But surprisingly, WRC followed through and did the same thing in cutting a regular sports segment. JP Findlay (formerly of NBC Sports Washington) does segments for them as warranted. He does more travel w/ the team, but the days of George Michael and the 5-minute sports block are long gone.
  9. Correct. Hearst made a strong bid to buy WJLA when the Albritton family decided to sell back in 2012/2013, but they didn’t want to do a piecemeal sell off.
  10. Nah. They should’ve learned their lesson by now. They tried to play fantasy football with their morning show, hiring FOUR anchors away from Fox 5 and it basically propelled them from 5th place to 4th. Plus as far as main anchors go, Lorenzo Hall is pretty darn good.
  11. Leon was never really a ratings draw, but WUSA9 also never really made many smart decisions either, so who knows? Can he one man band???
  12. WRC initially reported 4 people were alive in the water. Seems like pushing that error should’ve been a bigger deal.
  13. Ah yes. Danner, who appears on NewsNation frequently - that bastion of unbiased news, gets away with posting crap like this.
  14. Times have changed. That's no longer the case for most local anchors.
