A New promotion: A tablet a day in May?
Where on earth are they getting the money for this? I don't blame them on this one, because I have seen WNYW and WNBC pull the same stint with iPads (but not every day though). Not sure if it worked with respect to ratings.
The only thing I like about the new graphics is the 7-day forecast. It's very nice and clean. Other than that, the whole package seems a bit tabloid-ish, it seems like it would be a better fit for CBS' entertainment show OMG! Insider. From what I've heard last night, the new music is not that great either. The new graphics and music doesn't, in my opinion, reflect an authoritative newscast as the old package did.
Yes, the have a new Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/StormTeam4NY). In one of their photos, it shows a picture of only Miranda, Huff and Cimino shooting a a new promo.
Does anyone have video of the newscast from two night ago? Apparently, Davis was drunk on air. This coming from comments from the above posted TVSpy article and some comments on Facebook.
I'm not a fan of WPIX graphics, but their breaking news ticker used in today's weather alerts are not bad, nice and clean. Whereas others stations looks bulky and out of sync.
What is WPIX's fascination with pastel colors? First the studio, then the graphics, now in commercials (especially for the morning news). I thought the pastel colors used in the morning news commercial were for Easter, but they're still using them. It looks terrible.
interesting. She seems to be way too caffeinated in the mornings as traffic reporter though. She is a burst of energy in the mornings, but too much of it makes it seem forced.
Indeed, I see the following message when I turn to WPIX:
"The owner of this channel has unfortunately forced DIRECTV to temporarily remove it from your line-up despite our repeated requests to keep it on. While we regret their decision, typically disruptions of this sort last a very short time."
It's quite possible. I believe the idea of reporters shooting their own video was mentioned a while back in a NY Daily News article concerning the demise and cost cutting measures being taken at WPIX.
A simplified "FOX 5" logo is now being used on the corner of the screen during syndicated shows. Gone is the box format. They have been using it in promos for shows where "FOX 5" in on one line, don't know if this new look will transition to the news broadcasts.
