We do have the first blackout in 2020.
Stations owned by the new Cox Media Group (acquired by Apollo Global Management) are blacked out from Verizon Fios systems.
The stations affected are WFXT Boston, WPXI Pittsburgh (plus cable channel PCNC) and WSYT Syracuse.

I thought Brianna's primary assignment has been 11am, not weekend mornings.
11am weather anchor. Also, early morning traffic. No weekends.
13 hours ago, FiveNews said:Phillip has been on the KABC dawn patrol since the late 90s.
Actually, I remember Ono & Leyva (currently @ 4 & 6pm) anchored the early mornings together, while Phillip & Leslie anchored weekend evenings until about 2002, when Phillip moved to mornings with Ellen.
13 hours ago, FiveNews said:My guess would be something dealing with the homeless crisis here in CA. NBC4 has an ongoing "Streets Of Shame" series highlighting the homeless epidemic in our state.
You know I just thought of something. Reading Phillip's mention of a "new initiative", I strongly thought of the sister station to the north's "Building A Better Bay Area" series, which talks about an array of issues (homelessness, housing, public safety, transportation, etc.) I wouldn't be surprised if see a "Building a Better SoCal" or something along the lines.

Looks like Phillip Palmer is becoming the new Gene Gleeson. He's moving away from early mornings and returning the midday show with Jovana. No word on who will replace him in the early mornings.

Tegna might be putting it's radio stations on the block.
San Diego Reader reported yesterday that Tegna might be selling the KFMB radio stations
So follow-up regarding a possible radio sale. It's happening.
Paperwork posted tonight shows that the two radio stations (KFMB-AM & FM) will be sold to a licensee Local Media San Diego Acquisition, LLC for $5M.
The licensee will be ran by a consortium of owners (including Mel Wheeler Inc., Trivest Investment Partners & Tantara Capital Partners).

I guess they're taking advantage of the new kidvid rules.
From Variety, GMA Saturday is expanding to two hours for a good chunk of its affiliates beginning next week.
Looking at the guides, the two hours won't be together. For example:
Small follow-up. Looks like some of the other stations that haven't carried the second hour, will carry it beginning January 4th.
- KABC will air the second hour at 9am (the first hour is aired twice at 4am (LIVE) & 7am/PT).
- KGO will carry the full two hours straight through from 7-9am (they're bumping the 8am local news to 9am/PT).
- WSB will carry the two hours from 9-11am (right after their 6-9am/ET local news).
- WFAA will carry the two hours from 6-8am (LIVE) (bumping the local news by one hour from 8-10am).
- WISN will carry the second hour at 9am (they already carry the first hour at 6am/CT (LIVE)).

WSFA 12 in Montgomery announced they are moving to a new facility located in a RSA building in downtown. Makes me wonder if this was in the works before Raycom whom was owned by RSA sold the company to Gray TV.
Says they should move into their new facility early next year and leave their longtime home on East Delano Ave in Montgomery.

In the meantime, the station commemorated its 65th anniversary on Christmas Day yesterday.

TV3, the studio space that GMA Weekend and WNT broadcasts from, is undergoing a renovation. That’s why last weekend’s Good Morning America aired from Times Square and it’s why WNT has been in a small, temporary set the last few days. This has nothing to do with ABC’s move downtown in 4 years.
This was also the reason why George anchored the Impeachment coverage from the GMA set at TSS (instead of TV3) last week too.

What stations have NOT gone full Gray yet?
WWNY, WECT, WTVM, WBRC, WSFA, WAFF, KSLA, KPLC, WVUE, WFIE, KFVS, KAIT, KEYC, KCBD, KSWO, KAUZ, KOLD, KGMB/KHNL. I'm probably missing a couple.
WSFA will most likely get new gfx once they move to downtown Montgomery sometime in the new year.

Another out of market O&O weather anchor is filling in tonight.
WTVD weekend meteorologist Steve Stewart is filling in for Jeff Smith.

I see Weekend GMA is at the Times Square Studios this morning. I wonder if its because of the continued maintenance work at TV3.

Nexstar is now involved in a new lawsuit, against one of its own sidecars. Marshall Broadcasting Group.
From the release:
On 4/3/2019 at 7:15 PM, CircleSeven said:Since selling three television stations to Marshall Broadcasting Group (MBG) in 2014, Nexstar Broadcasting Inc. (Nexstar) has actively worked to undermine MBG and its stations, according to the lawsuit in the Supreme Court of the State of New York this morning. The suit seeks to make MBG whole from Nexstar's disingenuous and damaging actions – bringing to light Nexstar's effort to sabotage MBG's business and eventually buy back the stations for pennies on the dollar.
In 2014 Nexstar sold three stations (KPEJ-TV, KMSS-TV, KLJB-TV) to MBG. Nexstar was forced to sell the stations due to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations and chose MBG as a buyer, believing that the FCC would look favorably upon MBG's status as a minority-owned business. While the FCC was led to believe that the sale would further the commission's objective of increasing ethnic diversity in ownership of broadcast stations, as soon as the arrangement was inked Nexstar sought to sabotage and undermine MBG's operations to decrease its worth.
"It has become clear that our only value to Nexstar was diversity optics at the FCC," said MBG president and CEO Pluria Marshall Jr. "Ever since the deal was signed, Nexstar has gone to great lengths to constantly interfere, undercut our authority and sabotage our business, with little regard for the agreements in place with us or the FCC."
Follow up. Marshall has now filed for Chapter 11.

I do have a gripe. At the end of the open, I don't like how that music gets abruptly cut off like that. That's really tacky.

WPIX is expanding its morning broadcasts again. They're adding a 9am hour beginning January 6th.
They're also adding Ben Aaron (from Pickler & Ben) & Marysol Castro as feature reporters.
This will be the third time for Marysol on this show, as she was the traffic anchor in the early 2000s. Then in the Fall of 2013, she was the early morning anchor, until the station cut that 4am hour that following summer.

It's certainly a different looking ticker. Not the black one most stations are carrying.

It will be replacing ionTV on WCTV 6.3. Which makes me wonder if adding ion to a number of its stations was just a placeholder until Circle could launch?
In Toledo, ion was bumped to 13.5. And since Ion is carried on a bunch of Gray outlets, It'll likely be moved down to another created subchannel.

Follow-up. The name of the new service will be called Circle.
The diginet will be launched early next year on the Gray stations. The new over-the-top service will launch late Spring.
January 1st will be the launch date. Some CBS O&Os will also be carrying the diginet.
Damn. With 16 original shows, ratings better be through the roof.
