It's the 11pm newscast based on the tease from earlier in the video. Also, this is likely the second night of "News 4 New York." Research from old newspaper clippings and ads placed the first "News 4 New York" on Monday, September 29. Sue would be moved off of 6pm a few weeks later to "Live at Five."

One of the classic news themes from the 1970's has been identified! The 1977 WNEW News Theme was composed by David Amram, and called the "10 O'Clock News Theme". Someone identified him as the composer in a YouTube comment and a Q&A in a 1978 edition of Newsday confirmed it. Looking at his discography, I don't believe that it ever made it onto one of his albums.

I appreciate East Carolina's efforts for getting these reels fixed (Reel 3 wasn't complete prior to this). Hopefully, Reel 1 turns up somewhere someday. FYI, I believe it is Loonis McGlohon (who donated these as part of his archives) on the piano for these and any of the Al Ham compositions.

He ended up at KGET in Bakersfield in the mid-90's.

At last, some cuts of this package have been found. Unfortunately, I think most of them are lost or damaged. Loonis McGlohon (who collaborated with Al Ham) donated his archives to East Carolina University as part of his estate, which had two of the three reels for On Top of It All. Reel 1 wasn't included. Reel 2 had "Sticky Tape Syndrome" which likely renders that unplayable and Reel 3 is mostly intact, save for a few tracks.
