Can David whispering “goodnight” and the cold fade to black stop as well, while we are putting in our TVNT requests?

It’s hurting my head. I’m guessing the non-licensed assets of KTVA have been sold to Gray, and Gray is putting those non-licensed assets on KYES.
so, KTVA is effectively just a license and transmitter now, with no programming?

I can't be sure, but I can just guess he was referring to the low resolution of that 10 logo. Tegna needs to redo the logo section of their new website design. Many logos on Tegna's new website format are barely legible...and I'm being generous in saying they're barely legible, especially KFSM and WTSP.
Make the logo space bigger or have the logo take up a larger part of that section so it's easier to read/look at. Either way Tegna needs to address this sooner rather than later.
It looks fine on my end.

Wait..... This is real?!?!?
Tegna... are you even trying anymore or.....?
How sure is everyone that the local station didn’t make this decision? Why is the blame for things people don’t like placed squarely on the corporation?
The logo is retro and kinda cool. Not everyone needs to agree, but it is something different.

It’s actually relatively large. According to NBC’s studio listing page it’s 4,170 sq FT. The largest studio I’d have to guess belongs to KABC where they have two 7,000 square foot sound stages and KABC’s set actually is circular and sits in the center leaving a good bit unoccupied.
Not to be that guy, but studio size ≠ set size.

I'm sure it has been discussed before, but WOW!! WNBCs news studio is tiny (no pun intended).
You can say this about most news studios you see on TV.

Given the number of cases in New York and and the concentration of our media sources there, it's a very risky time for anyone living or working in that area.
The way things are going, now would be the time for the network's to have their backup plans in place and deploy their facilities in less-affecfed areas (bureaus and O&O stations). And of course CNN has a perfectly good facility in Atlanta they largely abandoned.....
CNN Center is very much alive if you watch CNN International. They mention Atlanta often as well, something daytime shows based out of New York don’t seem to like to do, even though their control room is in Atlanta (anything after New Day and before The Lead is switched in ATL).

My contacts say this was a special setup just for this story. All the stations pooled their choppers and shared each others feeds, so there were constant aerials of the cruise ship. One would go to refuel while another took its place. KGO offered to pool their chopper feed if they could use the other pool choppers (N62TV which is the one branded with KTVU livery, and N42SL, a generic news helicopter that seems to have replaced generic shared helicopter N75TV which looks to be in Sacramento right now.) It appears that KGO and KTVU are the only two that have full command of a chopper. The generic one might have some 50/50 shared command between KNTV and KPIX, which explains its lack of branding. I would assume Helicopters Inc knew that KTVU might not want to fly to everything KNTV and KPIX might want aerials of, and offered to let them share a generic chopper in addition to the KTVU share.
@rkolsen's helicopter project has uncovered some interesting sharing going on in the market. During the Garlic Festival incident is when the "generic" N75TV chopper was discovered, which all the stations were using, including KGO.
The pooling happens A LOT in SF, for what it’s worth.

Completely off topic (but it’s TVNT so ) I have no idea why Bill St. James hasn’t been used by local stations as they look to replace CVD.

The staffing just doesn’t work out sometimes. The right amount of people were off at the wrong time. It happens.
Sometimes we make mountains out of molehills here, especially when it comes to substitute anchor situations.

WGN cleaning up just in time for the Nexstar visit tomorrow:

Looks like KRON — and perhaps more Nexstar stations — are venturing into 24/7 news.
Which reminded the geek in me of their NewsCenter 4 “24 Hour News — Every Day, Every Hour” days.

The live audience element of the third hour should continue, in my opinion — unless they already have other plans for 6A.

Can we get back on-topic? Haha. We're getting off track.
This 413 page thread has a topic?

I can’t get over how ugly those handheld prompter controllers that TEGNA and FOX O&Os use. They’re literally all I can look at whenever I see them in use. You’d think due to their size they could motivate Autoscript to make a more discrete product.

They did a story recently about the last construction beam being installed in the building. There was no reference at all to them moving into that building in the future. Don't you think they would have said, "Oh, by the way, NBC10 will be relocating to the new Comcast Center at such and such a date"?

So apparently Gray Hall was anchoring the Sunday noon show a few weeks ago and suffered a medical emergency while on air. He was rushed to the hospital and emergence surgery was performed to remove a cyst that had grown and was blocking blood flow. He's now recovering and hopes to return to the air soon.
It appears he was anchoring solo that day. I wonder who took over for the remainder of the show.
If there was nobody else around that was “on-air ready” except for the meteorologist, the weather person would have pulled double duty.

A couple of other Today Show notes... Today seems to have done away with a local news break at 9:26.
9:56 and 10:26 are gone as well.

I imagine replacing a component in a box camera (as Sony calls them even though ABC I think went with Ikegami) is a lot easier than in a portable handled style and the actual small box cameras WPVI uses now.
A good broadcast engineer can fix a camera (and many other television components) no matter the size. They're constantly cracking open ENG cameras to repair/replace parts that got damaged in the field.

Those cameras have to be atleast 11 years old. What's the average life span?
Regarding the operators do you think the show could be done with one camera operator there? Where one moves to the needed camera for the zooms and occasional pan?
Can't speak for the age, though easily they could be 10-15 years old. You can pretty easily replace parts in a camera to make them last several decades.
Judging by the size of the temporary set-up, they probably only had 1 camera operator out there (I am guessing it's the same person who normally operates the robotics.)

Obviously related to preparations for the launch...they have camera operators tonight.
Judging by the overhead bump shot, it looks like they dusted off their old HD cameras (with the big white box lenses) and I saw someone manually moving the shot. It's sort of weird to see that in local news these days...

If they get new graphics, I hope they keep the "In High Definition" in their copyright. It should stay forever, like "CC" in their open.

Why is TVNT worried about a guy who makes several million and knows exactly what he signed up for with his work schedule?
