Stephen Morgan and Marissa Torres make a great team on “Weather Command”…. Still no sign or word about Amy Freeze, but hope this team sticks together. If Amy returns it would be great to see her paired with Jason Fraser in the afternoons…

I agree. I love seeing Stephen and Marissa together.

  2. I’m getting dangerously close to deleting the weather apps for KTUL and KOKH from my phone. I’m disgusted at what Sinclair is doing to the stations, especially KTUL. Don Woods is rolling over in his grave right now. The only other Sinclair stations I have weather apps for are KATV, WEAR, WPDE, WSBT, and WHAM.

  3. I’m sad to see WBBH get sold, but I’m glad it’s going to Hearst. Hearst has done a good job of pouring resources into its stations and they are one of the gold standards in broadcast journalism.

I will say that it’ll be interesting to see how they handle WZVN.

Yup. Agree. FTV reported something last week that KTTV shared that "something big is coming" for May. Has to be their new set.

It could be their new set, but I think it may be the fact that they’re getting a new helicopter. Stu Mundel has been posting on Instagram and Twitter about it. They will still share the chopper with KCBS/KCAL. Gone is the black and white Eurocopter A-Star N29HD. In its place is a black and blue Bell 407 N39CL. There’s also another black and blue Bell 407, which may be a backup chopper. This tail number is N93DD.

Fun fact: N39DD formerly served in Miami as the shared chopper between WFOR, WTVJ and WPLG. Before that, it was just WPLG’s chopper.

I wonder if it’ll be shared with KCBS/KCAL or if it’ll be KTTV’s own. Either way, it looks nice. I love the blue paint job.

Walter Perez is doing sports tonight. He used to be a color commentator for "Princeton Football Radio Network" according to Wikipedia, but I don't think I've ever seen him sportscasting on Action News.

I remember several years ago he once filled in for Keith Russell one Saturday night. He wasn’t that bad.

  7. KPNX morning Emma Jade has announced she's stepping down from the morning show to spend some more time with her three children (she just had her third child). She said she wasn't leaving the station entirely, so I wonder what her new role (if any) will be. I've enjoyed Emma's work and remember when she started as morning traffic anchor. I wish her best of luck.

Although, to be perfectly honest, I kind of saw the writing on the wall when Rachel McNeil was hired. I thought Rachel would be used as a breaking news anchor/fill in anchor until Emma returned from maternity leave. Looks like the anchor spot goes to Rachel.

  8. This 4pm news is going to be a total failure for CBS3. They were stupid to even try and compete with 6 and 10 at that time slot.

With all due respect, it seems like you have nothing positive to say about 3 or even 29. I happen to like what 3 is doing with their 4pm show. It may not be as hard-hitting as the other 4pm shows, but 3 is known for being different and trying new things. I tip my hat to 3 for being different and I wish them luck at 4pm. It may take a while, but they have to keep going and make a name for themselves doing things different.

  9. I don't think KNXV has a male meteorologist on on weekdays at all (Iris Hermosillo in the morning and Amber Sullins for the evening shows). They do have John Patrick on weekends.

KPNX has Lindsay Riley, who joined from WTTV earlier in the year, on its evening newscasts, and Krystle Henderson is also on their staff. But James Quiñones presents the weather in the morning.

KSAZ has Kristy Siefkin presenting its evening weather and Stephanie Olmo on weekends, but Cory McCloskey in the morning. Worth noting, I think they may be the largest market station in the country without a certified meteorologist.

KTVK/KPHO has five mets (three men, two women) and one female weather anchor.

What I find interesting about KNXV is that their weekend morning anchors, Nohelani Graf and Alison Rodriguez also do the weather for the show. Usually, they alternate doing the weather while they both anchor.

I think that Philadelphia (my home market) is the only market (if not one of the only markets) where all four chief meteorologists are women. There's Tammie Souza on NBC 10, Kathy Orr on FOX 29, Kate Bilo on CBS 3, and the one and only Cecily Tynan on 6 ABC.

  10. Figured Natasha was in the mix as Joe Holden anchored yesterday and I don’t believe he said he was in for her. Highly disappointed that they’re using the same anchor team for all the shows.

Who is the weekend morning anchor now?

It's Jan Carabeo, who I think does a great job. She's grown on me. As for weekend evenings, now that Natasha is doing the 4pm show, who knows? I'd like to see Joe Holden get it. I've seem him fill in and he does a great job. I'm glad to see Natasha finally get a weekday anchor slot. She's such a great journalist.

  11. KYW must have something different planned with this newscast. I think, knowing them, it'll be focused on light-hearted stories with some social media thrown in. They'll obviously do serious news, but they'll try to be different with more light-hearted fare and positive, uplifting stories. I'm willing to give them a chance and I'll be willing to check it out. If I don't like it, I'll go back to 6.

  12. I saw Kyla Grogan filling in tonight. I thought she did very good filling in during Katie Fehlinger's maternity leave. I hope they keep her as a fill in meteorologist. I remember her doing traffic at WCBS, so maybe she could fill on that, as well. Either way, I hope to see more of her.

  13. Popular Indianapolis meteorologist Angela Buchman is leaving WISH to join crosstown rival WTHR.

An Indiana native, Buchman has been with WISH since 2001. According to multiple sources, she is set to depart the LIN Media flagship for a job at WTHR, the market’s #1 station.

As the Indianapolis Business Journal points out, it’s unclear what the move means for WTHR’s primary meteorologist Chris Wright, who has been with the station since 1999.

For some reason, I don't think Angela will replace Chris. I remember Jude Redfield doing weather for noon and 5:30 before he left. Chuck Lofton covered noon and Chris covered 5:30 since then. I'm thinking Angela will do weather for noon and team up with Chris for 5:30.
