  1. Here's a random news segment of WLTV from 1991.

Boy, it's so hard to find old local Spanish content from back in the day such as Univision. I know this maybe off topic, but if you guys were trying to find hard to find videos of old local news content, what's the best way to find them besides circulating tapes?

Sorry if I'm asking, but I'm not a professional when it comes to find hard to reach very rare old news videos.

  2. Almost full newscasts of former Univision O&O now Entravision station KLUZ's Noticias 41 from 1999 and 2000 respectively.

As you can see, the video features the very last news set KLUZ used under Univision ownership before Entravision bought the station.

  3. Might as well throw these Univision related video here.

A video talking about KTVW from 2004

KMEX morning news open used from 2001 to around 2004 or 2005

    I'm not done yet!

KCEC Noticias Univision Colorado news open circa 2005

    Ok, now I'm done.

  4. I bet most of you guys seen these videos before. For those new, these are the news opens KWEX used in the late 90s to early 2000s.

    1996

1999 (Not sure if they still use the former)

Here's a small little bonus: A brief history of KWEX during their special analog shutoff program in 2009 which contain some classic footage. The juiciest part is at 0:40, a news open of "Noticentro 41", most likely from around the late 1980s.

KMEX also did something similar too.

  5. Some highlights in this video include news stories from WSNS, KMEX (I think it's the same as the one I shared sometime ago, but with better audio), KUVN and KCEC. Circa 1996.

Speaking of WSNS...here's a news open that's unique to this station from around 1999-2000.

Here's a news open of WVEN 26, a Univision station in Orlando, FL (Home of Disney World) featuring news open graphics used exclusively for Entravision owned stations. It only lasted for a year before they switched to the standardized 2001-2006 Univision news graphics.

  7. The 1997 Television Factbook says K66FN Salt Lake City signed on March 1, 1996, owned by Rolando Collantes. (A Salt Lake Tribune article suggests the sign-on was at least a month earlier.) This station is today K39JS-D, an Azteca América outlet simulcasting with KSVN-CD 25 in Ogden. The callsign came from KSVN 730 AM which has been a Spanish-language station for nearly three decades now but previously was known as "K-7".

You're seeing KSVN in 2001 (the mention of the 154th anniversary of Pioneer Day seals the year).

Collantes is the owner of Azteca Broadcasting Corporation, the current licensee, which has no relation to TV Azteca itself other than a business partnership and a shared name. His stations hooked up with la televisora del Ajusco in 2002, dropping Univision. In 2004 and 2005, they carried live Spanish translations of the LDS General Conference.

Of all the Utah rarities I've wanted to see, this was one I didn't even know existed!

I wonder if some of the graphic assets were taken from it's Chicago sister?
