  1. As a spry 134-year-old crackpot, I am still personally offended and outraged that those whippersnappers Huntley and Brinkley replaced the beloved Camel News Caravan. Even more than Actions and Eyewitnesses, we want our news delivered on drab sets in glorious black-and-white by chain-smoking anchors. That's the sort of tradition that will bring The Kids These Days back to broadcast television in droves.

  2. Well, that is indeed a shame, but life does go on. Soap operas are beloved dinosaurs, but dinosaurs all the same. Better to have it on Peacock than cancelled outright.

Also, if NBC had given the time back to the affiliates, the hour would likely have been filled with some combination of local news and lifestyle fluff, leading to even more complaints about it somewhere on the board. NBC News may not be glamorous, but it's better than infomercials. I think that should be their new slogan.

  3. Bah, I like that new WKYC logo. It's simple and to the point, tells you everything you need to know.

Hey, when you see that 3, you know it's coming direct from Cleveland. You know what's boring? Those blue-and-white Circle 7s, those suckers are everywhere. You see one of those, it could coming from any of the nine zillion Channel 7s around the nation that were too lazy to come up with something unique.

And since I had no clue what the current WKYC logo looked like, I went to their website. It looks like a ne'er-do-well 3 leaning against a wall while a shady peacock looks around the corner for unsuspecting rubes to mug. Hardly trustworthy, I'd say.

The "KRON ON" brand is dumb...

They're missing a great chance to tap into California's legal growing pot culture...
...eh, growing pot, that's too much of a pun. Let's call it budding weed culture, yeah...
...anyway, now's their opportunity to rebrand themselves something like KRON-IK instead.  They could even retire that tired, out-dated Golden Gate Bridge-inspired "4" in favor of four joints in the shape of a "4."

"Tired of the fluff on the other stations?  KRON 4 News is BLUNT!"  I'm giving you a license to print money here, Nexstar.  You can thank me later.

  5. I'll be honest, I'm going to really miss KNLC. It's been such a fascinating anachronism since it signed on. No matter when and what I've tuned in over the years, the station seemed like it was at least fifteen years behind the times. Still, Larry Rice always had his heart in the right place (if not his broadcast acumen), and this is $3,750,000 that his ministry can certainly use. Also, Weigel seems a decent owner, so I'm looking forward to what they do with the station.

Thanks for your prompt reply. It just frustrates me, people make up crap without backing it up. Like I've seen this talk over and over but only now is it official. Thanks again.

Hey, no problem. The funny thing is I did a Google search for WOAI and Antenna TV fully expecting the only results would be this thread and/or some of the more insane threads in this forum. Finding the truth was as surprising as anything.

  7.

I don't know why Sinclair would be so hellbent on keeping the ABC affiliation on KDNL. Do you really think it makes that much money on reruns of Modern Family and Family Feud?

It's being proven in Indianapolis that a network-affiliated station is worth more than an independent. Why give up something so valuable to one of your competitors who just might do something better with that network affiliation?

  8. I don't see what was so great about the 2002-2014 WDIV logo. That was just as bland and boring as the new one: "Local 4" nickname, white 4 on red background. They've just wandered from one neighborhood in Dullsville to another.
