Would this be an example of a pointless live shot? Read the description bellow and you'll see what I mean. Also a live shot in an alley? Defiantly NOT the safest place to do one in my opinion.

How come some stations use marked and some use unmarked vehicles? Does safety play an issue with that? Thanks
-
I'm going to guess that the station handles the airline and hotel reservations?
-
Unless a sporting event or award show spills over into the 10:00 news cast.
-
What about pro sports or NCAA Division I football or basketball championships?

Good afternoon, How do TV stations handle things when a reporter goes out of town for an assignment? For example when NBC stations send there people to cover the Olympics. Thanks.
-
Mark also occasionally filled in during Bulls telecasts.

For sports, why not tap Silvey or Carm? Then again Silvey is too winney so..........

When would you all say that stations started posting videos online? I remember in 2001 WMAQ and WGN had the feedroom where citron videos were posted.

How common would you all say ambush style interviews are? Finally why would you all say you don't see them much anymore? Thanks
-
I have noticed that with the exception of WFLD and WGN, most of the news stations don't do live shots on the late night news casts. Given the current state of the city, could a reason for this be safety? Thanks.

Not much of a Brad fan, he seemed like he enjoyed the sound of his own voice
-
In many of those same interviews he also said the media would not be allowed in the locker rooms again. It's three years later and the media has locker access again.

The only one who appeared to find it funny was Jerry (RIP.) Everyone else may as well have said, "really Cheryl, really?"

In Chicago the TV station unions are: WLS (ABC) NABET-CWA WMAQ (NBC) NABET-CWA WFLD (Fox) NABET-CWA WBBM (CBS) IBEW WGN(9) IBEW I think the reporters and anchors at WGN and WLS are in SAG-AFTRA

He stated in an interview that he was paid off, he also stated that the NDA is in effect for life hence why he can't mention her name publicly. It is also why he should seek professional help, anything you say in a shrinks office is confidential
-
And what good is that doing either of them? I have learned that holding a grudge is not good for your well being. I have heard him in many interviews and yes he's done and not coming back. IMO they need to seek professional help, and yes it could have been handled differently. But she's the queen bee, so it seems like what she wants she gets. I'm not quit familiar with the Bruce Wolfe car keying incident, could someone better explain that to me? Oh and don't forget he singed an NDA

Shading her and ABC 7 management, he needs to move on. Even if he can't or won't forgive her he needs to make peace with what happened. What he needs is therapy, licensed, able to prescribe therapy. His firing is akin to a bad breakup

Good Evening, I know in the Chicago market all of the TV stations are Union shops. I think some of the behind the scenes staff are union? Is this the case in other markets? Also are TV reporters members of SAG-AFTRA or does that also very by market? Thanks

Good evening, as I've mentioned in a pervious thread there are women TV news, photographers or photojournalists. How common would you say it is now compared to 30 or 40 years ago? Thanks.

Good afternoon, while this is not completely TV news related many in the Chicago news media business probably know who fire photographer Tim Olk is. He has been a fire photographer for over 30 years, you can view his work here https://olkee.smugmug.com/ . If you look through his photographs you will see many current and former Chicago TV news reporters in them. I can see members of the media being both envious and jealous of him, he sometimes gets closer to the action then they do. Also if you look through his Facebook book page two former TV reporters and one current one are on his list PM me for the details. He is currently battling prostate and balder cancer, as if this wasn't his wife lost her job and with it his insurance. It is uncertain as to how this will play out. His story in my opinion needs to be told, that is if he wants it to be told. Thanks

Question, how come TV cameraman/women are often referred to as photographers? Did the term just carry over from newspapers to broadcast journalism? I have always associated photographer with someone who takes still photos as opposed to videos. Thanks.
