  1. The reports on the Navajo Generating Station and the Indian casino case date this to October 13, 1999.
  2. Could someone help me get my jaw off the floor? AWESOME find, Raymie! And now, my own paltry contribution... WFMZ Berks Edition open with the 1996 theme, 1999: http://youtu.be/rsGcLjMzIxs?t=32m25s
  3. The TVSpy roundup... KWBA is adding a morning newscast. The CW affiliate will begin airing a 7-8 A.M. extension of KGUN's Good Morning Tuscon starting Monday. After 13 years, Kirk Montgomery is leaving KUSA for Michigan, where he will anchor the 4 P.M. news on WILX. WSLS vice president and general manager Leesa Wilcher is leaving for personal reasons. She joined the station in 2011 from WJHL. Gerry Vaillancourt, morning anchor at WVUE, has been let go. According to him, station management said they "wanted to go in a different direction". He started at the station in October 2012.
  4. It's likely they were made by the same people - and that those people also did the first package WRAL had with In-Sink. Compare the animation at the end of WFMZ's open with .
  5. The roundup, courtesy of TVSpy... Lauren Victory is joining WTIC as a general assignment reporter. She comes from WPTZ, where she has worked since 2011. sanewsguy's prediction a few pages back was correct. Adam Caskey is now the evening meteorologist in waiting at KSAT, as Steve Browne scales back. When he joins the station, Caskey will become the meteorologist for the 5 and 6 P.M. newscasts, with Browne remaining on the 10 P.M. newscast. WGBA and WACY have new management. Pete Marquardt has been selected as the new general manager for the duopoly, replacing Joe Poss, who recently became vice president and general manager at WTMJ.
  6. And we have yet another appearance by these graphics... WTVD update with the KING 1985 theme. 1988:
  7. Correct there. That's "The Black Hole" - there's a sample of WICZ using it in the NMSA.
  8. Chris Geiger has been named vice president and general manager of WTIC and WCCT, effective April 28th. Geiger was formerly president of Barrington's (now Sinclair's) Syracuse cluster. He replaces Rich Graziano, who is now WPIX's new GM. http://www.mediabistro.com/tvspy/chris-geiger-named-vp-gm-of-tribunes-wtic-wcct_b118977
  9. TVSpy says Hearst has reached a deal with Dish. All 29 stations have returned to the network. http://www.mediabistro.com/tvspy/hearst-and-dish-reach-retrans-agreement_b118937
  10. It feels strangely exhilarating submitting freshly-cut *DIY* audio samples to the NMSA.
  11. eyeontv has struck again with a Telesound demo reel from 1982 featuring many opens you may recognize, and several previously-unknown uses, including... KSBW: Look for Us WCKT: Count on Us KNTV: Count on Us There's also "Saturday Live" from KRON featuring Streets of..., production elements, and a boatload of promos. Truly a huge haul!
  12. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned , clearly inspired by Media General's graphics at the time.
  13. Pretty nice that they cite their claim of being Florida's most watched news. Reminds me of WAFB's original open with Newschannel. From the Internet Archive (not UCSF), a local cable access newscast from Lowell, MA - NewsCenter 6. 1991: https://archive.org/details/Newscast19910305_201402
  14. That open is so much better than KARK's version...
  15. From the same channel with the Atlanta clips featured above, a 1975 WAGA open with a nice synth theme and a really nice logo formation that appears to have been done by hand.
  16. YES! We finally have a sample of KSLA 1983! I've been scratching my head over that theme for many moons. Couldn't have come at a better time, too... Nice find, KnoxvilleTVFan!
  17. I don't know if that's a knockoff. It's a little too spot-on - I've always thought of it as a KEZI-commissioned custom variant of the real deal.
  18. I suspect that's "AlvinLikesBritanny" (sp?) with a new account, too.
  19. WMAZ 2005, first 5 minutes:
  20. He has a little more. WMAZ 1991 with KSD 1981:
  21. That's Shelly Palmer's "Brave New World". They use the second theme in KMTV's NMSA sample (my personal favorite, by the way) on evening newscasts. (EDIT: Whoops, thought you were referring to the morning clip that's currently at the top. I now realize I was just stating the obvious there...sorry.) I don't know when they picked it up, but I'd guess it was within the last 3 to 4 years. And now, my own request: can anyone identify this theme? I've had a special attachment to it for years (don't ask me why), and have always wondered who did it. I'd imagine it was a local composer - perhaps the same person who did their current theme?
  22. Nice to see a longer sample of the Discover the Difference open. I had a feeling there was more to it... Also, I think I remember posting that WHP video earlier. Great finds are posted alike, I guess.
  23. VARTV is reporting that WVEC will soon launch a 4 PM newscast. This comes on the heels of WAVY's new 4 PM show, which launches Monday. No word yet on when the new show will debut, or who will anchor it.
  24. More UCSF. Asterisks denote new (to me) themes/cuts: WESH 12 PM, 1989: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_lnp91f00 HUGE reel from 1989. WFSB, KYW, WPLG, WLVI, KCOP, KUSA, KGO, and WTOG all make appearances. Highlights include a new WFSB theme, a "hybrid" KYW open (watch and you'll see what I mean), a sloppily edited KCOP open (or is it a sloppily edited tape?), and Tampa Bay Tonight with Centerpiece (perhaps they flipped directly from this to the early 90s theme?). https://archive.org/details/tobacco_var91f00* KGTV's Inside San Diego, 1988: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_xty27a00* KMBC 6 PM, 1987: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_cww27a00 WDAF 6 AM, 1990: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_tvx27a00* WDAF 12 PM and 5 PM, 1992: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_ery27a00 KSDK Midday AM, 1983: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_nkw27a00* KSDK 6 AM, 1991: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_oxx27a00 KSDK 6 AM, 1989: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_uox27a00 Also, a ticker can be briefly heard in this KTVI clip from 1988: https://archive.org/details/tobacco_xxw27a00
  25. I don't know. Maybe somebody didn't want to be on camera?
