I've actually edited it because I agree about the wasted space.

In a way I guess you could say it's a refresh...more like i took the graphics from this morning and felt creative and hopeful.

I spent 10 minutes on powerpoint making this. Not sure I completely like the bug or ticker. Opinions? (on the graphic not the beer NYNewslover )

Interesting thought process...This morning while watching the Today Show I noticed some nifty lower thirds during an awkward segment about using everyday items to remove stains and crap. We all know Today updated opening graphics a bit ago, and I've been waiting for a change on the rest of the package since. They would of course have to re-work the logo bug and headline ticker...they could change the yellow to orange with white text or white with orange text since they seem to be going towards a white, yellow and orange theme. Opinions?

I really love the new opening and graphics... All except the L3. Those are the most awful things ever. Overall, its a good change for GMA

Someone should create mock graphics to go with the new opening.

I DVR'd the full show this morning and now that I'm watching it, the miss matched graphics are driving me nuts. They used the update and the old all within 10 seconds of each other....aghhhh

I love that so much! Best US news opening I think I've ever seen. Wish the edit their graphics a little to match it now

It normally depends on the time. If its during the 7-11 blocks either Matt or Savannah or Matt and Savannah. The anchor of Nightly News normally comes in around noon (the same time the Today anchors leave), so either a well known correspondent (Kate Snow, Peter Alexander) or the NN anchor will anchor till about 4, then after that I've never seen anyone but the NN anchor.

They have opened the show lately with their backs to the outside instead of the normal backs to studio. Yesterday morning, they also only had Matt and Savannah at the desk for the open. Any reason why these changes? Is it temporary or not?

To quote you, I don't mean to be rude but your rudeness was out of line. I just simply posted my opinion on a forum, defined as "a place or opportunity for discussing a subject" by Merriam-Websters, after watching GMA in full this morning. I don't remember the last time I watched any morning show in full, so when I got the opportunity to I was extremely happy. Today and CBS This Morning have just as many or more things I'd like to change, I just voiced my opinion about GMA because it was freshest in my mind. (Side note- I agree with BehindNYnews)

I'm a HUGE Today Show fan, I'm afraid to admit it...but I think GMA has really gone to trash. They are a NEWS show and really need to refocus a little. I understand women viewers are important for morning shows, but it's also important that people get the news to start their day. If feel that the first 45 minutes need to be SOLID NEWS, that doesn't include the tons of crime stories (they aren't the Nancy Grace show). After 7:45 begin a slow transition to the light fluffy stuff, but make sure to include AT LEAST 2 news updates (like with Amy) during the 8 o'clock hour.

I still love the versatility of this section of the set. It's much better than the big GMA screens. I like how you can make them one or split them up (like even during a segment) into six single screens. Makes for a great interview and other segments! I think the Today Show scored big time with this update.

I personally want to say congrats to Savannah (who btw is my Women Crush Wednesday, every week). I was thinking about who may fill her place and I thought one of two things will happen. #1 Two ladies will rotate by week (possibly Erica, Tamron, or even Jenna Wolfe) or they will get 1 lady to fill the position the whole time. I dont think they will do Natalie, because then it will really throw a curveball at viewers.

Maybe I overreacted a little bit...but GMA completely copied NBC (so did CBS, Fox, CNN, MSNBC, BBC, Sky News, Al Jazerra) because the Today Show was the first morning show. I'm a little biased...but it still pisses me off. I think social media and news show show connection is HUGE in today's time and technology...but for the biggest and most direct competitor of the Today Show (1st broadcast to have a "social media" room) to add an Orange Room to their studio and call is "Square" is ridiculous. :rant:

It just pisses me off that the Today Show "relaunches" themselves 6 months ago...with an extremely good mix of hard news, pop culture and interviews (exclusives and not). The create a new logo, theme (Rise to Shine, #todaysunrise, etc) and create the Orange Room, so a network morning show can better connect with their audience...and now GMA just HAS to go copy their idea. AND THEN GMA FELLS THE NEED TO LIE ABOUT IT!!! "Andrew Springer is claiming now that this had been in the works far before Today debuted their new spot" GMA also just HAD to take Today's glory away by, accidentally updating their set on the same day. It's a LOAD of BS if you ask me. Thant's my 120 word rant on the subject...***sarcasm*** No HARD FELLINGS OR ANYTHING GMA :bang:

Any clue about the Today Show broadcasts from Sochi? I haven't found details on locations or anything? Anyone know anything?

I am hoping she takes over Carson's position as anchor of the Orange Room. I don't think he deserves to be there AT ALL! She does a fantastic job filling in for him. NBC could also expand her role and have her as anchor of the Orange Room and the Chief Media Corespondent. She could then contribute to all NBC platforms, but expand her role on Today. Today could also have Orange Room "check ins" during the 3rd & 4th hours. She could report for KLG and Hoda like Sara Haines did. Thoughts?

Today marks the 62nd birthday of Today! 62 years of doing great!!! Hope to see it around in another 62 years.

The Today Show has launched a year long series "Shine a Light", each anchor chose a topic near and dear to them and will work all year long to "Shine a Light" on it and give back to communities. They revealed the anchor choices spread out over the course of this week. But, they also included Tamron Hall...Any indications what this could mean for the future?
