  1. This guy's name is Pat Feldbelle. WITN recently posted video of their Hurricane relief fundraising tape from after Hurricane Floyd 20 years ago, and it sounds like the same voice who narrated that video also voiced that open.
  2. Most stations in that case block the online stream for all viewers with a slide saying something like "due to rights restrictions, we are unable to stream the sports segment.
  3. Not to mention Disney/Hearst have a partnership with A&E Networks and ESPN, which would be rocky if ABC pulls the same stunt in Boston.
  4. Great, that's all we need, Sinclair in New York City,Los Angeles, and Chicago. Also, I'm too lazy to look the other potential markets they may have to sell, but even with the cap raised, they would have to at least divest stations in St. Louis* and Greensboro. * Although Meredith also would have to divest a station in the market
  5. And Fox wonders why people don't take them seriously when they claim to be "Fair and Balanced"...
  6. It's both. Tribune (smartly IMHO) arranged it where KCPQ's expires at the same time that the Former O&O stations acquired from Local TV ends.
  7. Lack of (viable) English Language options for the market, and that WSVN is one of Fox's strongest stations. Where else would Fox go in the market? WPLG is happy with ABC, with the remaining English stations being O&O's (lumping WSFL in b/c of Tribune's ownership of The WB+ their now-expired agreement with The CW). None of the Spanish operators would sell in Miami, since it is a market where Spanish TV outrates, or is on par with their English Counterparts.
  8. WTVD is in damage control mode... though no fault of themselves, or of their employees. The suspect in the case that is being described as George Zimmerman 2.0 is the son-in- law of Greg Barnes, their Fayetteville Bureau chief.
  9. Sinclair slapped with a $ 9.5 Million fine for illegally negotiating retransmission consent for stations they didn't "own or control'. I'm not a Sinclair hater, but that makes 2 fines for illegal operations/negotiations, how many more of these will they rack up before they become RKO and are forced out of the television business.
  10. Another thing to remember is Strahan's workload. During the NFL season, he also works for Fox, making it where he had 3 gigs and he could have wanted to drop one of his gigs, considering Fox's NFL program is based in Los Angeles, while Live and GMA are based in New York. To ease his travel ,he can appear out of Los Angeles on Mondays for GMA during NFL season, while for Live to work, both hosts need to be in studio together.
  11. Plus NBC would have to run WCVB as an ABC affiliate for 2 years, as their agreement with ABC doesn't end until December 2018 defeating the purpose of pulling their affiliation from WHDH. If NBC leaves WHDH, the only options they have are 1) Subchannel or primary feed of WNEU, 2) purchase of either WMFP,WYDN or WWDP or 3) the unlikely scenario of going with NECN as the station. Not great options, but unlike Fox with WJZY, NBC already has a news presence in the Boston area, and will likely enter a "News Share" agreement with NECN for whichever option is chosen. Plus, based on the wording of some of the contracts (particularly in sports with separate Cable/OTA partners), NBC may have to black out sports programming, the biggest portion of their viewership. Based on all of these, NBC is just trying to get additional concessions from Ansin, with their only true option based on recent purchase history is moving NBC to WNEU, causing Telemundo to move to 60.2/WTMU-LP.
