TEGNA. Where we sell people in exchange for more money...
(sarcasm)
I like:
"It's all within reach... Except your pension. We took that. "

There is zero evidence that WFAA's affiliation is being revoked nor is there any evidence it is up for sale. It's barely worth discussing.
Posting in a manner that's only to cause controversy is generally frowned upon.
Only generally? Could we bump that up to a "sternly"?

Does anyone have a full buyout casualty list (of the names we know so far)?
I was going to do one today but with the breaking news earlier that WFAA was losing their ABC affil, then getting sold to Hearst, I left it alone. I'll put it together in a bit though.
-
One by one the old anchors and reporters marched off to the green yard bins for composting...
I thought we shredded them and reused them for script paper...

Is it me, or did it just get weird in here....

Perhaps TEGNA is still trying to burn off the debt from all of the spinoffs and mergers...
When Belo split into two...the TV side sucked up all of the newspaper's debt.
When Gannett purchased Belo...the debt was at $715 million.
When TEGNA split from Gannett....the debt load was a staggering $4.4 BILLION...eclipsing even Sinclair, who stands at $3.89 billion.
Each time, the newspaper spinoff has been the winner of being debt-free while the TV side has shouldered the burden.
They banked on TV ad revenues continuing to grow. I'd almost say their bet paid off, considering the election season this is turning out to be.

We will have to see. It will be interesting. I think they should hire somebody new. I think Greg is good for 4 and 9. Jim Guy would be fine for cheif.
How long did they know in advance that they were going to take the buyout?
-
Yes..but KING 5 has not been a great place of business in the past few months you know ever since what happened with the unions.
I mean, I had been aware of the union fight, but nonetheless-- they lost their entire evening anchor team, plus their Chief Meteorologist... And they're about to head into sweeps.
For a #1 station (if they were even still that) that spells disaster.
-
KING 5 has hit a huge blow:
DENNIS BOUNDS
JEAN ENERSON
JEFF RENNER
LINDA BYRON
all of them "retiring"
Wow
They actually let their primary on-air team take the buyout? That's just bad business....
-
I think the buyout criteria was anyone who is over 55 or had been with the station longer than 30 years.
And it appears everyone's last day will be 4/21.
-
At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if WFAA or even any of TEGNA's three flagships are next
And I haven't heard anything from WUSA here in DC...

Long-time WVEC anchors/reporters Joe Flanagan and Velma Scaife are taking early retirement buyouts from TEGNA. Both have been with the station for 30+ years...
Last day? April 22.

And KAGS got it before KCEN? Even that's hard to believe.
I said the same when I saw. It was probably the easiest to do, if you remember the general basic-ness of their previous site.

I've noticed that the LSB stations still haven't updated their sites and it's late into January. When are they going to update them?
Probably when they feel like it or are ready.
Just my guess.
-
Slightly off topic, but all of TEGNA's ex-corporate relative newspapers have "deemphasized" that they are "A Gannett Company" on their websites and such, and instead are going with the tagline "Part of the USA Today Network".
Which also still have all the TEGNA stations listed.

Now that you mentioned it, did the other 3 King Broadcasting stations update their weather graphics to match the rest of their newscasts like NWCN does?
All of the NWCN stations were on the G3 WX graphics except KREM.
-
I noticed that the former LSB stations still haven't updated their websites. How long is it going to take for their websites to be updated?
If Al-SA-TX is still hovering around these parts, he might know something since he's down there with the Fox duop in Abeline/San Angelo. Last I heard, they were going to be under Worldnow until at least January 2016.
Also, while I'm here: KREM2 Spokane FINALLY updated their weather graphics to match the rest of their newscast on Sunday. I say finally, because...the station switched to the G3 graphics LAST YEAR...

Td Jakes' show has officially been greenlighted as of yesterday
http:// http://www.tegna.com/tegna-media-greenlights-t-d-jakes-talk-show-for-fall-2016-launch/
TEGNA now ventures into original programming and syndication... Hmmm...

Can anyone explain why TEGNA didn't buy back the Tucker station as well?
-
When will Tegna fully acquire KGW, WHAS, and KMSB? I checked both KGW and WHAS's websites and neither have the "A Tegna Company" byline meaning that Tegna still hasn't fully acquired any of those three stations.
At last check, they had filed the paperwork for "acquisition" from the respective Sander and Tucker holding companies. It's just a matter of time for the FCC to sign off on the transition.
-
Tegna is now "officially" blacked out on the DISH network.
-
And now it looks like Vanessa Coria is on her way out in about two weeks from now per VARTV

And it's apparently it's over money... She responded to a fan in the Facebook page about not only being demoted from anchor to night side reporter, but also taking a paycut as well.

Tegna's stations have agreed to an eight-day extension in their ongoing retrans battle with DISH Networks, through 7PM Septmeber 9. Their original deal expired at 6pm on September 30.
From B&C: http://www.broadcastingcable.com/news/currency/dish-tegna-agree-8-day-extension/144650

Be prepared, All Tegna stations will no loner be available on DISH Network if no deal is made by 6:00PM.
I don't know what's going on with all broadcast groups and their providers.
*6pm on September 30th.
All Tegna stations appear to be affected, including the ex-Belo and ex-London stations.
WUSA is running crawls every hour stating as much.

It would have happened already, as the buyouts went effective April 22. Beyond that, it'd be waiting out their contracts.
