  1. WSB broke into severe weather coverage during GMA 30 mins ago to cover a Tornado Warning for the Atlanta metro area. One thing I noticed is the lower third remained the default blue instead of red like it did in the previous graphics package. It’s a subtle change, but I thought it was interesting change from the past decade or so of seeing a red lower thirds during severe weather coverage.
  2. WSB-TV Chief Meteorologist Glenn has officially announced his retirement. His last day is November 22. Brad Nitz will be promoted to Chief Meteorologist. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wsbtv.com/station/chief-meteorologist-glenn-burns-announces-his-retirement-after-40-years-wsb-tv/PV5LYYETZJCBTA42PLNH7L2KG4/%3FoutputType%3Damp
  3. Channel 2’s Jovita Moore passes away after battle with brain cancer https://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/channel-2s-jovita-moore-passes-away-after-battle-with-brain-cancer/BYZ3I5MHBJC57PTH56PG3IA75E/
  4. This will be the only female duo anchoring team in Atlanta news right now if I'm not mistaken. That's a nice, refreshing change from the usual male/female pairing were used to always seeing.
  5. I kinda feel like this was only a matter of time. We'll see if it was a smart move for CBS46. Regardless, I'm glad to see her trying to make a comeback. I hope it all works out for the best.
  6. That's not the only departure(s) in the Atlanta news market... Erica Byfield is leaving WSB to head to the Big Apple. Jovita Moore announced the news live on air. Neither said whether or not she was hired at one of the stations up there. Sports Anchor David Wilkerson is out at WXIA after 2 years with the station. http://radiotvtalk.blog.ajc.com/2016/08/29/sports-anchor-david-wilkinson-leaves-11-alive-after-two-years/
  7. I would bet money the Whoopi portion of the article is definitely true. I remember watching an episode where the hot topic was about Kim Davis, the KY marriage clerk who refused to sign a gay couple their marriage license. She had done an interview with ABC news (ironically I think Paula Faris was the one who interviewed her). The panel was discussing the interview and you could tell as the discussion went on, Whoopi was getting more and more pissed off with Paula the more she talked. Whoopi looked like she was ready to leap across the table to strangle Paula lol. My opinion was always neutral about Paula Faris, but after seeing her in the example I gave above, my opinion of her has soured. She should stick to GMA and stay far away from opinionated shows like The View. Playing devil's advocate and thumping the religion card doesn't really work well for her imo.
  8. On second thought, Carol Sbarge could be a strong contender to be Erin Coleman's replacement. I thought she was a long shot, but now I don't know. She's been on not only at noon this week, but also at 4, in addition to 6 and 11 today and Monday when Jovita Moore was absent. I think yesterday she was on at noon, 4,5,6 and 11. I would think if Wendy was a favored frontrunner she would be getting more airtime at the anchor desk wouldn't she? Wendy has only been on twice this week so far at 5pm today and Monday.
  9. As far as talent within, my initial guess was Wendy Carona (maybe even Sophia Choi). I think Wendy Carona and Craig Lucie used to anchor together on weekend evenings before he got promoted to take John Bachman's place.
  10. I saw this on the Yahoo! homepage, I'm sure this comes as zero surprise. Michelle Collins To Exit ‘The View’ https://www.yahoo.com/news/michelle-collins-exit-view-232305332.html
  11. According to this article, Kelly Ripa was kept in the dark about Michael's departure and there was growing tension behind the scenes between the two hosts. https://www.yahoo.com/news/kelly-ripa-kept-dark-michael-strahan-sprinted-gma-215801290.html
  12. WSB-TV Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns will be off the air for a few weeks to recover from open heart surgery. Brad Nitz has been and will continue to fill in for him in the meantime. http://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/chief-meteorologist-glenn-burns-recovering-after-heart-surgery/161328202
  13. I don't know what it is about this one, but I love this FOX graphics/music package from WTTG.
  14. They didn't just update the graphics, they updated the studio as well to match the graphics. More in line with WNT, I guess This Week will be next....
  15. I noticed that too, it does give off a NN vibe. I'm glad the previous graphics package is gone, I really hated it. The way they had the whole red, white, blue color scheme set up works for This Week, but for WNT it felt completely out of place imo. I like that it's more subdued and toned down.
  16. Karyn Greer is freelancing for WGCL (CBS 46), she started today. http://radiotvtalk.blog.ajc.com/2015/06/29/11alives-karyn-greer-freelancing-at-cbs46/
  17. Two down, one to go. I guess Trayce will likely be the next victim with a dagger in her back before the year is out. I'm half joking, but I wouldn't be the least surprised if that happened.
  18. Sharon Reed joining WGCL starting in June. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/sharon-reed-heading-to-atlanta/148546 She will be replacing Stephany Fisher according this article. http://radiotvtalk.blog.ajc.com/2015/05/19/cbs46-anchor-stephany-fishers-replacement-sharon-reed/
  19. I saw this during the 8am hour, but GMA had new graphics for the teaser and a new opening. Everything else like the lower thirds appeared to be the same though. I guess they were supposed to be modified versions of the current graphics. Sorry I don't have any pics or video to show what I'm talking about, it caught me off guard seeing it this morning.
  20. Brittany Miller is joining WGCL as a multimedia journalist. She starts on April 20th. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/wgcl-hires-mmj-from-news-12/145920
  21. I could be wrong, but it seems like the root of WGCL's problems stem from hiring idiotic news directors. It's like they're purposely trying to keep this station down in the toilet.
  22. Sports Anchor Sam Crenshaw jumping from WXIA over to rival WAGA http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/former-wxia-anchor-sam-crenshaw-joins-waga/145215
  23. Mike Dunston joins WGCL as a weekend anchor http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/mike-dunston-joins-wgcl/143650
  24. Former WBFF Reporter Melinda Roeder Joins WGCL http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/former-wbff-reporter-melinda-roeder-gets-new-gig-at-wgcl/143306
