I Wonder how the WINK doppler held up during Ian?  I know the wink studios were underwater.  As far as i know the WBBH (First Alert Power Doppler HD) / WZVN (Storm Warn7 Doppler) Doppler survived.

Wink doppler is in babcock ranch supposedly that's where they are broadcasting from transmitter? 🤔

  2. I heard a story that when President Nixon was about to resign all 3 of the network news anchors were on vacation HK smith of abc news was at his upstate ny house and made the drive down to DC in 5 hours  Walter Cronkite was sailing off of Nantucket and they had the coast guard get him and John Chancellor had a plane come get him (please correct me if im wrong)

Do the networks have a plan to get their anchor from vacation etc if they absolutely need them for the biggest news events

I noticed on the channel guide this Friday that since Miley Cyrus' New Years Eve show will be uninterrupted from 10:30pm-12:30am...

News 4 NY will go on at 10pm. I've never seen that before. I'm assuming most if not all NBC stations are doing this?

Yeah my nbc station is 10-1030

I say this because of history, not because of any personal opinions, but stations are likely still leery to dismiss high-ranking Black talent after the protests against WBBM in the 1980's. They demoted weeknight anchor Harry Porterfield to weekends, when Bill Kurtis returned from the network, and Jesse Jackson called for a boycott. To this day, there is pressure to have Black representation on the lead anchor teams. It's been said that that's part of why Cheryl got that contributing anchor role in 2003. It's a touchy subject, for sure.

I understand, Hell as a jab I also think she has dirt lol

Calls to fire Cheryl Burton are overblown for sure but last time I watched ABC7 Chicago with regularity I found her presenting style to be pretty amateurish and distracting, mostly in the way she reads the news and speaks with her hands. Haven’t watched in years so there’s a chance she’s gotten better but for a station with anchors like Alan, Judy and legends like Kathy and Ron, Cheryl was always the weaker of the bunch. She’s been there since the late 90s so even if her presenting style is weak, she’s no doubt a Chicago staple.

Art Rascon of ABC13 in Houston is another glaring example of a weaker anchor that has other strengths to keep him in his position for 20 years. The man is abysmal at reading the news and that’s putting it kindly, yet he’s in Houston tv royalty.

What has she ever done to justify being fired? I have said before and will say again, what is it that some people have against her? She may not be the 'greatest anchor that has ever lived', she is hardly the worse that has (or will ever) grace the Chicago airwaves. Her and Alan have good chemistry and on a personal level; she was very nice the two times I met her (which is often not the case with meeting news people).

It's fair to debate the way she presents the news and such, but outside of that, there's zero reason to dog her as many often do for no reason.

@jaseand @MorningNewshell I think of her as that teacher who has an annoying voice and the road to graduation passes through her, plus I don't find her credible
