I heard a story that when President Nixon was about to resign all 3 of the network news anchors were on vacation HK smith of abc news was at his upstate ny house and made the drive down to DC in 5 hours  Walter Cronkite was sailing off of Nantucket and they had the coast guard get him and John Chancellor had a plane come get him (please correct me if im wrong)

Do the networks have a plan to get their anchor from vacation etc if they absolutely need them for the biggest news events

News 4 NY will go on at 10pm. I've never seen that before. I'm assuming most if not all NBC stations are doing this?

They demoted weeknight anchor Harry Porterfield to weekends, when Bill Kurtis returned from the network, and Jesse Jackson called for a boycott. To this day, there is pressure to have Black representation on the lead anchor teams. It's been said that that's part of why Cheryl got that contributing anchor role in 2003. It's a touchy subject, for sure.

Calls to fire Cheryl Burton are overblown for sure but last time I watched ABC7 Chicago with regularity I found her presenting style to be pretty amateurish and distracting, mostly in the way she reads the news and speaks with her hands. It's fair to debate the way she presents the news and such, but outside of that, there's zero reason to dog her as many often do for no reason.

@jaseand @MorningNewshell I think of her as that teacher who has an annoying voice and the road to graduation passes through her, plus I don't find her credible

They ran the mag mile Christmas parade down here in ft Myers and  why can't they fire Cheryl Burton, why is it that she is untouchable?
