  1. suggestion do you think an 11pm newscast on fox 5 would work I think so AS long as it is HARD NEWS not the 10pm chatter...... and has a different host??? ben simmeneu?? thoughts

I don't think so, I think any window for Fox 5 to try a newscast at 11 has passed long ago.

You know you mention Ben Simmoneau and I've always thought he was an odd fit on the early show with Huddy personality-wise. Lacy was really good, I thought, with Huddy on the Wake Up show. I could see Simmoneau maybe trying the 6 (that Ernie show is just bizarre and the ratings show it). They would never do this but I think Good Day with Lacy and Huddy would be much better than it is now. I can't stand Kelly.

  2. True. But while it too bad that Amy got lost in the musical chair/shuffle of 2011 and 2012 ass Amy said moving to ABC News saved her life.

Amy like other Weekend TODAY Anchors of the past (Maria Shriver, Campbell Brown, Soledad O'Brien, Jodie Applegate) would not get promoted. Unfortunately Weekend TODAY Anchors rarely ever get promoted to the weekday Show. Only one has and that was Katie Couric. It is too bad really because when they join Weekend Show they do use that as a stepping stone with the intent of being promoted to weekdays.

They all left for the same reason: they got tried of waiting.

I think you could throw Jenna Wolfe in that mix but her career trajectory has been so odd in being demoted to news anchor and then now with this new role. I'm not a fan of hers but I was surprised that she got passed over for an outside hire in Erica Hill, who wasn't using Weekend Today as a stepping stone up but as a rebound. That role has usually been filled from within by NBC.

  3. Towards the end of Maddow tonight, an alternative ticker design came up for hurricane coverage. It was divided into 4 sections with storm information. It looked like it would be a "flipper" but I did not see it do anything (wasn't really paying close attention).

Maddow won't get axed, and Hayes just won an Emmy so I can't imagine they'd throw him out either. Wouldn't really miss Lawrence O'Donnell though. He's just... Dry? I don't know how else to put it.

I could see Hayes being moved to weekends (although not back on Up) but his show has been such a ratings drag on the rest of primetime, it regularly takes a dive from Hardball, that he'll get moved off 8 at some point.

  4. I can't help but feel that the opinion show block in primetime may be next on the chopping block. If it isn't, it should. And I'm talking about a mass cancellation.

Given that the other news channels have opinion programming or documentaries in primetime, MSNBC would be best served going with live, long form newscasts instead of the same ol', same old'.

    But that's just me.

There's no way that Maddow gets axed, she's still the face of the network and O'Donnell still does well ratings-wise. Hayes is a goner at some point though as his show continues to lag in the ratings. There's been a little speculation that Willie Geist may get the timeslot but no word yet.
