  1. re: the WISH-TV/WTTV situation.

That will be an absolute shitshow if that happens. DuJuan McCoy is still battling it out with DirecTV and Dish three years later, but I could also see CBS being a factor in forcing DirecTV/Dish to negotiate to his terms. WISH-TV has become very odd in the last few years, being a hybrid of a minority-focused station and a general news station. It also still has the news partnership with WIBC, a right-wing talk station, on the other hand.

  2. Or they could get a new building. They've been at Network Place at Park 100 since 2005 (when WTTV/WXIN moved out of their even smaller facility on Meridian), but I think that's unlikely.

I'm not gonna lie, it's pretty annoying that we've gotten to the point where our national anthem has become a hot-button political issue. If you like having it played on TV, you're a fascist, and if you don't, you're a communist. There's no pleasing anyone anymore, is there?

It's what kind of ticks me off about this forum.

If you don't like Trump or whatever, that's a valid thought, I think a lot of people don't really like him. But a lot of people here seem to dislike the idea of anything like playing the national anthem, because of whatever reason it might be. I don't think playing the SSB is anywhere near nationalism, and it really bugs me that people think this way, that somehow being proud of where you live is a bad thing.

Is Nexstar rolling out a different format website layout??

Check out KXAN's site -- totally different than other sites... I rather like it myself...

WISH isn't on it yet, but that's assuming Nexstar does indeed sell WISH/WNDY.

  5. KTEN-DT3 (the station's ABC-affiliated subchannel) uses a major ripoff of WGN's graphics package, with ABC Modern replacing Proxima Nova in the talent bumper.

The confusing part is that KTEN now brands its ABC subchannel's newscasts as ABC 10 First News, but its website still refers to the subchannel as "ABC Texoma" (with two different logos for the main page and the subchannel's page, respectively). Anyone know if this is either just an oversight on KTEN's part or does KTEN-DT3 not use the "ABC 10" name universally?

From what I can remember last time I was in Denison, Texas (my dad has an office down there), they pretty much just use "ABC Texoma" for everything else but the newscasts.

They don't even put the station logo in the corner of the end of network promos.

  6. The Dispatch stations have been off of Directv and AT&T for almost a month...

The last major retransmission squabble between Dispatch and a major provider was in 2000... between them and Time Warner. Time Warner refused to carry ONN in the Columbus market, so if I recall correctly, Dispatch briefly pulled WBNS until ONN was carried.

No mention of a resolution thus far.

Didn't Dispatch have a thing with Dish a few years back? I can clearly remember WTHR talking about being pulled from Dish Network....

To start things off, AT&T has pulled the American Spirit stations from DirecTV and UVerse.

    http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/107537/directv-att-drop-american-spirit-stations

I guess I'm just not as far in on TV news operations, but how does this work? Does American Spirit have different contracts from Raycom?

So if Mission has a dispute with DirecTV, for example, Nexstar stations would continue to stay?

  7. Burger King's new TV system is using clips from CBS. This means that while you're hungry they will have stuff from 60 Minutes and CBS clips and promos. I wonder if they could have just used CBSN?

One of the McDonald's here in Carmel, Indiana does the same thing.

  8. Having the anchors say "focused on family and community" only adds to the cheapness.

Good lord, this makes the pre-Gray KALB-5 opens look like a million bucks.

It's like they tried to combine WNBC's old open with WPVI's open, but failed miserably.

  9. I think this was missed and not talked about here but it looks like KWTV 9 in Oklahoma City has rebranded its sister Ind. station KSBI 52 to... you guessed it... News 9 Plus.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KSBI

This took place two months ago and DESPITE that rebranding, KSBI 52 continues to only air KWTV 9's weekday half-hour noon newscast.

    Oklahoma's Own.... KTVU Plus.
