  1. the 1/6 insurrection committee hearings begin this week with a primetime hearing on Thursday. Here are the broadcast and cable network plans. Note: this page will be updated as necessary.

CBS: Norah O'Donnell will front live coverage. CBS's coverage will be streamed on Paramount Plus and CBSN

ABC: live coverage will be hosted by David Muir.

NBC: Lester Holt will host on both the broadcast net and NBC News Now

Fox: Live coverage anchored by Brett Bair and Martha McCallum will be offered as a level 2 special report to Fox affiliates who want it (it is important to note that primetime on the network will not be preempted).

CNN and MSNBC will likely use their normal primetime hosts for coverage.

FNC will not be airing the hearings in full but will dip in as events warrant. the aforementioned broadcast will Brett and Martha will be on Fox Buisness network.

Note: NBC has announced that the second hearing which is scheduled for June 13th will be exclusively on NBC News Now. whether or not that will be offered as an optional SR to broadcast affiliates is not known

  2. Primetime was interrupted in the Eastern/Central timezones this past Tuesday for President Biden's remarks on the Uvalde, Texas school shooting.

Fox slid back local news so that Name that Tune could air in it's entirety.

NBC did not finish their airing of Young Rock so that the finale of This is Us could start on time at 9pm/8 central.

there simply aren't enough high-profile trials going on to make a 24/7 court channel viable, this is why the original court tv was rebranded

  4. WEWS is now down to just one person in the sports department as Marisa Silvas announced on her Twitter she was leaving the station for a new opportunity yet to be announced. Lauren Brill is the only person at the station still on sports.

Gutting a tv station sports department isn't going to fly in a town like cleveland

  5. BaltoMedia.net reports that for the first time in decades, the Orioles will not be aired on OTA TV, leaving all games exclusive to MASN (excluding those picked up by ESPN, MLB Network, and FOX. The Nats are also out of an OTA home.

So for cord-cutters in Charm City and the DMV, unless WTTG and/or WBFF pick up some games, you're out of luck, and MASN has no option for in market streaming.

CBS must have thrown enough of a fit about golf preemption for both WJZ and WUSA to drop local baseball

  6. will be Sinclair continue to pay for expensive sports rights? what does WGN have without sports and news?

i would expect them too as long as the cubs, bulls, and blackhawks want to do buisness with them

  7. Awful news, especially the way in which he passed. Rest in peace.

It's even more awful considering that Sinclair may soon come knocking at their front door.

There is a zero percent chance of wboc getting sold

  8. So rumor had it that Veronica Johnson went to WJLA when NBC4 brought in Doug Kammerer as chief meteorologist vs not promoting her. Now I see that WJLA has also brought in someone from the outside to be chief meteorologist
does this mean doug hill's days at WJLA are numbered?
  9. For those interested, WGN America will be simulcasting the Cubbies victory parade tomorrow morning starting at 10am EDT. (Info accurate as of 7:30 when I called WGN themselves to confirm).

they must have gotten a lot of inquiries about the cubs parade to be showing it nationally

  10. WSVN loves to pre-empt programming and FNS was no exception. It aired Monday Mornings at 4:00am prior to moving this. And now with FNS airing at 9:00am, TIF Sunday now airs in two blocks: 8:00-9:00 and 10:00-11:00am.

But if you ask me, it should've been shifted to 7:00-10:00am so that FNS can air at 10:00am.

how did fox let them get away with it for so long

  11. I think they thought she was going to take that buyout offer with her age & years of services, and this was the only way to keep her on board.

9 has probably been trying to force her out for the last several years
