For how long has WPIX been doing a replay of the News at Ten at 1am?

I think for a long time now. Interesting though is NOW that the station is up for sale - all the on-air talent are all about self-promotion on Their Social Media such as re-tweeting numerous favorable comments from viewers over and over again - as if it going to save their jobs. You were reported some time ago for making unnecessarily rude posts directed at other site users and were put on moderated status as a result. Posts are held until I have time to skim through them (usually once a day). I'm pretty sure I've approved every post you've made up until today when you made unnecessarily rude posts about the baby cake.

 

I agree that it's not news, but that's no reason to attack other site users. These "general threads" are full of dumb stuff, mainly to keep it out of other threads.

NOT rude statements, honest statements. Try to find a threat or a curse word that i see on other posts, you won't find any on my replys. Just because these "regulars" gang up and report people when they can't win a discussion - doesn't mean they are correct. Is that how this site runs? Whatever agenda has more people gets to be posted and the minority opinions don't get posted? I know this is a "Private" site and restrictions are NOT at ALL like the Freedom of the FREE PRESS that we all belong - but I have hardly come close to posting anything Nasty that targets anyone specifically that i see posted all over the message boards. Also, the people that are making these complaints have posted much more diabolical messages than I have - they are hypocrites. I've only been on since the beginning of the year, posting just a few dozen comments - if you look into the history of these people, I'm sure they have posted much more horrific things than my lack of patience for fluffy promotion of other colleagues - which goes on constantly..... especially when you get to people making up dream dreams of anchors on various stations - which we all know are people promoting, themselves under the aliases and/or their friends... i mean... shouldn't we all post what we feel? isn't that why there are user name aliases in the first place??? are we all here to say nice things only about people or are we here to post the truth? i mean, we're in the News Biz- shouldn't everybody here post the truth and NOT be afraid if it offends anyone? seems like there's more lies than truths posted here. What about the posts of people sharing news on the misfortunes of other colleagues? should that be banned? well, I don't repost negative articles, I don't curse and I don't make threats- so if anyone is offended by any truths - that's their problem NOT mine. I mean, this is the news business - do you expect me to believe that any of these people would go to News managers to complain about any of these comment? NO - they'd be laughed out of the newsroom and they would get the silent treatment from coworkers if anyone found out the trivial comments the complaints are being made about. Should we only have News Programming that talks about nice, pleasant things like we post on FB all day? NO - a show like that would never get any viewers. the News Biz is one of the most PHONEY, Cut-throat, back-stabbing businesses there is - NONE of what I have posted even scratches the surface of the reality of TV news behind-the-scenes.

Marvin Scott?

Ha, like anybody outside of the NYC news biz would be able to name Marvin Scott if shown his photo. NO legends in Local news anymore, you have to go way back for name recognition. Even when feature reporter Morry Alter left Ch2, that local legend was forgotten the next day and that was like 12 years ago. Anybody that thinks they are legends are legends in their own mind Inside the small circle of the NY News Biz - trying to convince themselves local news is alive and well.

Though there are some people left in certain neighborhoods that have their favorites still, for whatever reason - the anchor or reporter is from there or they are the same nationality etc...

Anywho getting back to real discussion.. I guess nobody has any interest in why Tribune would pull the plug on their National News Site based in NYC just days before the debut of their big PR blitz. 18 layoffs for people just hired away from NY Daily News etc. just months ago.

Overall TV viewership is up...way up!

 

OTT, streaming , nteflix, slapface, tablets, smartphones.... the networks get pieces of it...nobody is hurting.

Trust me...

It's just shifted, and the chase is on.

you go believe what the management tells you. whether the Networks get a piece of it or not, NOTHING compares to the $$$ that Broadcast viewership brings in. All that other stuff is NOT ONLY way cheaper, BUT - it gets sliced and diced by everyone it feeds through AND also gets finite analytics as to how long it was watched, if it was skipped, etc. whereas Broadcast is still guesswork because of the Nielsen way of gathering demographics by one person's viewing habits representing tens of thousands of people - you can't fudge those demographics with smart technology of tablets, phones etc.

GMA and Today MAY have dropped as much as -13% whereas CBSTM was only down -4 %.

 

No one source has definitive numbers on the viewership drop...so it's best to use the many, many different available sources.

Correct, the networks together are down that much as a whole. Regardless, the writing is on the wall and the ratings next year will be down too much to nitpick who is down 13% or who is down 3%. It's a trend that's been going on for over 35 years when rating of 30 was the norm

wow, a whole 260,000 people. so basically between the 5 boro's, Westchester, Long Island and New Jersey, there's about 40,000 viewers in each of those areas that ROUGHLY have a million, if not millions of viewers each.

Oh god no. If Sinclair buys the major ones, say goodbye to WPIX, KTLA and WGN as we know it. Sinclair ruins everything and these stations will be no different.

 

If Tribune goes away, these stations are ruined.

wpix IS ruined.... Been the laughing stock of NYC News Media for over 30 years. "We do News our own way" has always been the mantra of the management - yeah, you do News the WRONG Way.

Maybe crewing issues? The Live With Kelly studio uses regular camera operators and unless the cameras cannot be routed to the WABC control room they may need more technical staff as they're normally automated.

We usually get one of those "entertaining" trolls every once in a while. But this time we got one of those "fake news" crying, CNN trolling, Linda Church-hating, WPIX loathing fella.

 

Ahh, gotta love the internet and times we live in.

uh yeah, i buy that. well - if you're not in the biz that makes you the biggest loser of all- of course you all are in the biz, i only find out about these sites via coworkers moron- Plus the fact you all cut and paste articles from other industry sites which make you extreme losers- especially posting about nonsense into the wee hours of the morning.
