Radio doesn't have retrans to cushion the blow of lost ad revenue, so they're bearing the brunt of the broadcast media cuts.

I'm also wondering about Sinclair with their heavy exposure to sports - sure, they're getting fat checks from the MVPDs but they're starting to get pushback with no sports on all those RSNs.

Plus there deal a blow because of the suit the FCC has made them pay. $43 million fine for failed Sinclair-Tribune deal. Sinclair might sell some stations cause of this and the post COVID World which seems broadcasting very sleak. Advertising-wise.

Project Veritas is at it again - this time accusing CBS of staging the length of the line of a drive-in COVID testing site at a Michigan hospital featured in a segment on CTM. CBS denies the Veritas accusations, but removed a portion of the CTM segement.

Well if the denying it then it kinda means they did. Especially if they removed a portion of the segment. Sounds suspicious!!!

For anybody who grew up watching Baltimore television news in the 70's, 80's, and 90's, you'll know the one name familiar to Baltimore and WJZ is Al Sanders. Hard to believe, it is now been 25 years ago today that the city of Baltimore and WJZ would never be the same of that emotional and difficult day. Al Sanders was diagnosed with lung cancer in March of '95, but after just six or seven weeks of chemotherapy and intensive care, he lost the battle at the age 54.

Al worked at WJZ 13 from 1972 as a weekend anchor/weekday reporter before joining up with his friend, the late great Jerry Turner in 1977. From 1977 to '87, Jerry and Al became on the most successful anchor teams in Baltimore TV history. Turner and Sanders were Baltimore's top news team until 1987, when Turner succumbed to esophageal cancer on New Year's Eve (12/31/87). Longtime WJZ anchor/reporter and Al's colleague, Denise Koch joined Sanders on the anchor desk as a fill-in, gaining the role permanently in early 1988. Sanders won Emmy Awards in 1993 and 1994 for his regularly featured specialty report, "Picture This."

For anybody who watches Al Sanders, he was the real reason why we as local news fans and viewers turn to get the facts and get it right. Al was a tough reporter, but incredibility sensitive. Tradition minded, but he loved the free expression of Jazz music. Al Sanders did not have the kind of ego that most people associated with anchorman, he worked hard. If that meant covering a big story on his day off, that was fine with him. And above all, he wanted to report things that matted to people.

Today, we local news fans honored and remembered and pay tribute to Al Sanders on this day, the man who put WJZ on the map in his 23 years at the station, the man who maintained his calm, and led the newsroom and the WJZ Eyewitness News team when the worst breaking news is happening. He taught us to focus on what need to be done to make sure you got the news coverage you can count on and deserve.

    RIP Al Sanders... And Godspeed.

It was a horrible day when he passed away. No pun intended but I was like JFK or MLK dying to that station it was horrible. Serious lost WJZ it changed them forever and they still haven't gotten over it. Sad irony it that he became lead anchor after Jerry Turner death and Denise Koch did after Al Sanders died it was sad. Denise still kicking she real trooper of that generation.

Looks like Phillip Palmer is becoming the new Gene Gleeson. He's moving away from early mornings and returning the midday show with Jovana. No word on who will replace him in the early mornings.

Jovanna will be his replacement... She has a nice relationship with Leslie Sykes.

FTV suggests the change was due to slipping ratings. Haven't seen any numbers from November. KTLA seems to be status quo, most likely leading the pack. CBS2s morning show is unwatchable. Today in LA isn't much better. GDLA is a mashup of many different things. I would surmise KVEA and KMEX are decent contenders in the morning...advantage going to KVEA.

    KVEA is number 1

Tabitha Lipkin leaves KSWB to become Morning Host for NBCLX in Dallas.

Wow that departure from California she was national OAN. Then the late XETV CW6 she was there till the station literally shut down the news department. She immediately bounced to FOX 5 KSWB, and now Dallas-Fort Worth, wow she was sports anchor at FOX KSWB btw.

They beat us to it.. it’s still weird to see the circle 7 used there...

I thought Eyewitness News. Was dropped. When the original Scripps Graphics the 2013 debuted it was WKBW 7 News.

I couldn’t imagine anyone at ABC News truly welcoming the opportunity to become ABCNN. I would expect some major pushback with them wanting to remain independent, if you will, as much as possible.

Cause there to biased, that's why you'd really have journalist and staffers going to right-wing media organizations really its biased and they'll really lose there jobs. Just for the fun of it. Embarrassing the Network.

Owen Confleti, her co-anchor has been there for about 15 years and was there during one of the station’s worst periods. He’s not particularly strong as an anchor either so it’s amazing to me how he’s weathered the revolving door.

The anchor of Houston’s perennial #1 in the AM has been there for nearly 40 years I think.

    You mean KTRK???

She hadn’t even been at KPRC one year. I wonder if ratings were a factor.

Seems like she was given a raw deal. Maybe her co-anchor needed to be changed.

Replacing her with Lisa will be fine, I'm gonna miss her face and those chubby cheeks.

I've seen nothing in the station's messaging to suggest that this is temporary. In any event, this will not be through any time soon.

Nah maybe the next month or 2. WRC did it I think had ratings success during last years government shutdown.

Taniya Wright has departed from KPRC-TV.  Whether she resigned or was dismissed is currently unclear; the station did not make an official comment.

Her bio has been removed from KPRC's website this afternoon.

    https://www.click2houston.com/team/

Not her, Taniya used to work here in Raleigh, I knew her the only reason for her move to Texas Houston was to follow her fiance. She had an excellent paying job that sad not even a year. Ironically at WNCN it wasn't even a year. I gonna miss watching her in Houston from Raleigh  she a good salary and following. It was so stupid she left.

Well, KOAA is pretty bad though.

They tend to not really use packages at KMGH since they gave up Eyewitness News in 2012.

I mean KMGH newscast has a 20/20 feel or A Current Affair feel, it's slow pace for a big market like them, the morning sem a little fast pace a confusing it give me The Weather Channel vibes.

It's sad though, that I can watch a better quality newscast from market 91 (Colorado Springs) than KDVR/KWGN.

Yea I have to agree with ya, KMGH newscast quality remind me of 20/20 newscast magazine or A Current Affair.

Yep. I think it's highly likely NXST will end up buying WPIX. But PIX currently has the Scripps website

Nah I think they will be put up for sale.

  15. I could imagine WPIX with these new Scripps package they were just sold off at the wrong time. I'm sure they didn't predict to be getting WPIX when this package was in development, and when they got PIX of course they were gonna buy along with the other stations that were sold off cause it's a big deal and its a big market and they're getting a station in the nation's #1 market so that get that number #1 piece of action that probably every broadcasting companies dream. (since the network owns everything in terms of stations there) is to have a presence in the #1 or #2 market, they were just a little late graphics wise.

  16. Nexstar graphics, and there a variety because of affiliation and station are 2x better than this.

Nexstar graphics packages (and it varies based on station and affiliation) are 2x better than this.

    • Thanks 2
  17. They look so graphic and bland. It look so laid back and textbook bland. I hate it and that theme is annoying. I know Stephen Arnold could do better it looks and sounds like Andy Zulia theme for Fox  5 News in 2002. Hopefully maybe KMGH in Denver which had a customized open keeping the look but rolling the graphics slowly.
